Urban Underground Space Design in Chengdu

The document discusses the rapid urban expansion and population growth in developing areas. This has led to scarcity of urban space. In response, humans have begun developing underground spaces in cities. The author intends to research underground spaces in Chengdu, China by analyzing their urban history, transportation, and user groups to develop a modular underground space design system.

Abstract

Our era is developing rapidly, and closely linked to it is the rapid urban expansion. With the
expansion of cities, the world's population is also expanding. Especially in the Asia-Pacific
region and some developing countries, the population base has grown exponentially.
The rapid population growth is followed by the scarcity of urban space, whether it is
residential space or public space. Take Hong Kong, China and Tokyo, Japan as examples.

In fact, in order to deal with this kind of problem, human beings have realized the
replacement and upgrade of architecture (from vertical to vertical). In fact, in order to deal
with this kind of problem, human beings have realized the replacement and upgrade of
architecture (from vertical to vertical). In recent years, human beings have begun to face
some bottlenecks in the upward development of cities, so some people have begun to turn
their attention to underground space. The use of underground space in the city center of
megacities has also become particularly important. This is also closely connected with the
urban underground transportation system. Thus the TOD system was born.

As a child born in an urban center in a developing country, I have a great interest in

underground space and buildings, because I think this will be a very important part of the
continued development of cities in the future. I will take Chengdu, the city of China as the
research object, and select an underground space in the center of the city as a case to analyze
and investigate it in terms of urban history, transportation development, and user groups.
And hope to use this as an urban underground space model to copy and paste on a large
scale to form a modular urban center underground space design system.

I will conduct my research through data analysis, related literature reading, government
investigation, model construction and other methods.
