I have divided our topic into seven parts this morning

so we're going to talk about the

Our first topic for today is what is CBT?

CBT stands for competency based training it is a

training delivery approach that focuses on the
Competency Based Training competency development of a learner as a result of a
training so this means that it does not focus only with
what you know but what you can actually do with
what you know it focuses more on the outcomes
rather than the process and it is learner centered.
10 principles of CBT Okay do you have any questions now let's go to the
10 principles of CBT

so the first principle we have the training is based on

curriculum developed from the competency standards

next learning is Learning is competency-based or

modular in structure so this means you have to finish
and accomplish the a particular module before you
 can proceed to another and you have to complete all
the modules for you to qualify this qualification

okay next training delivery is individualized and self-

paced so that means that is why I have gather your
current competencies so that your training will be
personalized according to your needs and it is self-
paced so you will be the one responsible for your own
learning

And lastly we have approved training programs are

nationally accredited by UTPRAS

okay now let's have a comparative analysis between
traditional education and CBT so the first one in
traditional education instructors focus on managing
instruction so that means it is teacher centered while
in CBT instructors focus on managing learning so

okay next in traditional most students enter about the
same time where in CBT Students enter at various
times throughout the year so this is one of the ten
principles of CBT that you can have various exit and
entry in our program

Role of CBT Trainee Okay let's go to your role as a trainee, so what are
your roles?

so you may select what areas that you need you learn
and when to learn it, within the reason that means
you can learn in advance because we have modules in
our learning resource area.

And because CBT is leaner centered you can choose

whenever you want to learn but in the end you need
 to produce outputs/ results.

so now let's go to the qualification overview so we're

going to talk about our qualification: Beauty Care
Services (Nail Care) NCII. The BEAUTY CARE
(NAIL CARE) SERVICES NC II Qualification
consists of competencies that a person must achieve
to perform pre and post beauty care services, perform
manicure and pedicure, perform hand spa and
perform foot spa.

BEAUTY CARE (NAIL CARE) SERVICES NC II is
compose of basic, common and core competencies
here we have 9 basic competencies

next we have 4 common competencies

And lastly we have only two core competencies.

Competency Based Learning Now let’s proceed to CBLM or Competency-Based

Materials or CBLM Learning Material
Competency-Based Learning Material is simply a
well-designed and carefully developed learning
material that gives trainees detailed instructions to
guide them through the learning process.

The parts of the CBLM are

INSTRUCTION SHEETS are designed to guide the

trainee on the different things to be done to learn a
unit of competency.

INFORMATION SHEET primarily designed to

deliver pertinent information needed in the attainment
of a learning outcome.

Now let's go to the METHODOLOGIES We are

going to use one or combination of these
methodologies in CBT training so we have

we also have MONITORING TOOLS so that you

can monitor your own progress we have the progress
chart and the achievement chart and matrix

For me to evaluate your progress we also have

LASTLY IS OUR EVALAUTION SYSTEM

Our evaluation system is based in the collection of

evidence on the performance of work. If you passed
you will be rated as competent.

And if you failed NYC and undergo the training

again.

Okay we are done with the orientation now we will

have a 15 minutes break.
Nine (9) areas in a competency-based Welcome back trainees. Okay now please get your
training facility notebook and pen and I will tour you to our different
stations here in our workshop

We have here Nine (9) areas in a competency-based

training facility

1. TRAINERS RESOURCE AREA- you can

see the training regulation and this is also
where the trainer make learning materials for
the trainee.
2. INSTITUTIONAL ASSESSMENT AREA-
this is one of the most important parts of our
workshop because this is where assessment is
done.
3. CONTEXTUAL LEARNING AREA – it
ensures your underpinning knowledge in
science, math and communication skills
applied.
4. PRACTICAL WORK AREA- this is where
 the trainees acquire the skills they need.
5. LEARNING RESOURCE AREA- you can
see the different CBLMS non print and print
media that you can use as your reference. This
is like a library.
6. DISTANCE LEARNING AREA- You can
have non-print and print materials that you
can bring at home.
7. QUALITY CONTROL AREA- in our
quality control area various tests are
conducted.
8. COMPUTER LABORATORY- In our
computer area you can use computer for
browsing in internet and viewing videos
related to your qualification.
9. SUPPORT SERVICE AREA-this is where
we address underpinning skills in the
competency.

Congratulations, Ms. Albis you have already meet the

requirements for the 1st competency. This time, I will
be giving you your Certificate of Achievement.

This time, I will give you CBLM, you read the

information sheet 2.1-1 Basic Hand and Foot Spa
Equipment, Tools, Supplies and Materials. Answer
Self-Check and please compare your answer to the

to Read the Info Sheet 1.3-4 Perform basic manicure
procedures. After reading the info Sheets answer Self-
Assessment Check and compare your answers to the

Let me read the instruction: Given the necessary tools,
materials and equipment, you should be able to
perform basic manicure procedures for (3) hours, in
accordance with Occupational Health and standard
guidelines

Ms. Etang as I can see in your performance criteria

checklist, you were not able to perform the task
properly. The nail cuticles are not properly removed.
This time, I will show you perform basic manicure
procedures

(Discuss the steps)……. DEMONSTRATE…

The first step is the Sanitation:

1. Cover the client’s lap with a towel.

2. Make sure to sanitize your hands by applying
alcohol or hand sanitizer.
3. Dampen a cotton ball with alcohol and wipe
off the dirt on your client’s hands, starting on
the palm up to the back of the hand.
4. If applicable, remove any present nail enamel
with the use of a cotton ball soaked in nail
polish remover for each hand.

Next step is the File and Cut:

5. Starting from the little finger, cut the nails of

the client’s right hand according to desired
shape.
6. File the nails using an emery board.
7. Place the hand in a manicure bowl filled with
warm water and antiseptic liquid soap just
enough to cover the nails.
8. Cut and file the nails on the left hand while
waiting for the soaking to finish.
9. Remove the right hand from the manicure
bowl and dry with a towel.

DAY 3

 Greet the trainees Good Morning trainees!

 Administer Post-test and Training
Evaluation So you have completed all the unit of competencies in
Beauty Care Services (Nail Care) NCII

Ok trainees, I have here with me some forms for you

to fill up and accomplish. One set is for your post-test
and another set is the training evaluation.

First I will administer to you the post-test.

Since you’re competent to all the core competencies,

you can take the post-test; this will measure how much
you have learned from the training. You have 45
minutes allotted time to finish the exam. Please read
the instruction carefully and write your answer in the
answer sheet. And submit it to me when you’re done.

Done? May I collect the post-test?

Now I will administer to you the training evaluation.

The primary purpose of this training evaluation is to

identify areas for improvement, for that reason please
fill up what is outline in the training evaluation
honestly.
