Tool Use Maintenance
1. Slasher - used for slashing grass and - sharpen the blade

Storage of farm tools
All tools should be kept under shelter to prevent
wear and tear.
1. A storeroom is a room set aside for storage
under lock and key.
2. A tool rack is used to hold tools such as: hoes,
shovels, spades, rakes, picks, mattocks, axes
and garden forks.
3. Smaller tools are kept on a tool board.
On the right shows a example of a storeroom.
4. A tool shed is a separate structure used for storing
equipment such as: ox-plough, spike harrow,
sprayer, hose-pipe, disc plough, lawn-mower, ox
cart.
Good storage facilities: Safety precautions:
- prevent rain from wetting the tools 1. Use the correct tool for the job
- prevent rusting of tools 2. Face the same direction when weeding using hoes and
- ensure paint is not damaged by the sun and rain wear closed shoes.
- ensure grease and oil are not washed away 3. Do not run when you are carrying tools
- ensure tools are safe from thieves
- ensure that missing tools are easily identified
- help save time when selecting tools for use
