3 Document Conventions

This section describes the conventions used in this document to distinguish between different types of
information you enter.

3.1 Data You Enter

Data you enter appears in a different type font and in bold.
For example, enter:
bwcli
Commands and fixed data appear as they are entered. Variable data appears in angle brackets.
For example:
<password>
Optional data that you enter to apply an option for a command is enclosed in square brackets.
For example:
[profile]

3.2 Keys You Use

The ENTER key is represented in commands by the ↵ symbol. Press the ENTER key after each
command where the ↵ symbol appears.

3.3 BroadWorks Server Software Version

Before starting the CLI, you can show the software version of the BroadWorks server.
At the UNIX prompt, enter:
bwshowver↵
The system displays the BroadWorks server software version, build date, and other software version
information.

3.4 BroadWorks Server Messages

Messages from the server in response to commands, including error messages, are shown on separate
lines.
To start the CLI, enter:
bwcli ↵

4.2 Invocation
To invoke the export, first navigate to the System/Util/SubscriberExport level in the Application Server CLI.
To navigate, enter:
cd System/Util/SubscriberExport↵

$ AS_CLI/System/Util/SubscriberExport>

To initiate the export, enter:

export↵
The system prompts for confirmation.
To confirm, enter Y.

$ AS_CLI/System/Util/SubscriberExport>export
***** Warning *****:
This activity should only be done during non-busy hours on the secondary provisioning
server because this may cause large amounts of data to be dumped to disk and it may
take some time to execute.
Are you sure you want to continue?

BROADWORKS APPLICATION SERVER SUBSCRIBER EXPORT GUIDE 10-BD5130-00

©2016 BROADSOFT, INC. PAGE 9
The CLI waits for the export operation to complete. As the export runs, progress messages can be
viewed in the Provisioning Server logs. Once the export is complete, the CLI indicates this by showing the
following.

...Done

The reports have been generated and are now available in the /var/broadworks/subscriberExport directory
on the machine hosting the Provisioning Server. This most recent invocation of the export overwrites the
results from any past invocations.

4.3 Logging Control

The Subscriber Export feature can emit progress messages to the SubscriberExport input channel at the
INFO severity level. There is a start and end message for each report generated. These messages can be
disabled. Note that the severity level for the channel can also be configured.

4.3.1 Enabling and Disabling Progress Messages

To enable or disable the progress messages, first navigate to the Applications/ExecutionAndProvisioning/
PS/Logging/InputChannels level in the Application Server CLI.
To navigate, enter:
cd Applications/ExecutionAndProvisioning/PS/Logging/InputChannels↵

$ AS_CLI/Applications/ExecutionAndProvisioning/PS/Logging/InputChannels>

To enable the progress messages, enter:

set SubscriberExport,true↵
To disable the progress messages, enter:
set SubscriberExport,false↵
To view the current enabled status for the progress messages, observe the row in the InputChannels table
where the name value is "SubscriberExport".
To view the InputChannels table, enter:
get↵

AS_CLI/Applications/ExecutionAndProvisioning/PS/Logging/InputChannels>get
Name Enabled Severity
===================================================================
..
..
..
SubscriberExport true Info

4.3.2 Logging Severity Control

To change the severity level of the Subscriber Export input channel, enter:
set SubscriberExport severity,<level>↵
Note that <level> may have the following values: Debug, FieldDebug, Info, Notice, or Warn.
If the level is set to "Notice" or "Warn", the progress messages do not appear as they emit at the INFO
level.

4.4 Troubleshooting

Server Busy Error Message

When an export is invoked, the system responds with the following error message.

[Error 4099 ] Server busy. Unable to process request at this time. Please try again
later.

This error occurs because only one export can be invoked at a time. If two concurrent exports are
attempted, the system blocks the second attempt and issues the error message that the server is busy.

Missing Results in /var/broadworks/subscriberExport After Export

If no results are found in /var/broadworks/subscriberExport after an export has been invoked or if a specific
report is missing, consult the Provisioning Server logs to see whether an error occurred during the export.

5 Reports

The following subsections describe in detail all of the report files that are generated by the export. For each
report, this includes the file name, a description of each row in the file, and a description of all fields per
row.

Versioning
The export format is tied to a specific release of BroadWorks and is not necessarily identical across
releases.

General Report Conventions

Following are a few general conventions that apply to all report files generated during export:
• All reports are emitted using a UTF-8 encoding.
• All blank field values are enclosed in double quotes, for example, "".
• All field values are enclosed in double quotes.
• Double quotes that are part of a field value are escaped by the " character.
• All fields with the Boolean type have the possible values of "true" and "false".
• All enumeration fields have values that are encoded in "lower camel case", for example,
weightedCallDistribution.
• If a given field does not specify that it can be blank, then it always has a value.
