EUCHARISTIC CELEBRATION
AND THE RITE OF MARRIAGE
Processional:
Commentator: Good morning brothers and sisters in Christ.
We are gathered today to celebrate love. This Eucharistic Sacrifice of the Mass is an act
of love and thanksgiving as we witness the exchange of vows between JED and
HONEY. Today, they have come to bind themselves together in Holy Matrimony. Let us
therefore ask God constantly guide them all the days of their lives.
Dear friends, let us welcome JED and HONEY and their wedding entourage.
Our celebrant is Rev. Fr. Joel A. Bilan, Jr.
Introductory Rite
Celebrant: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
People: Amen.
Celebrant: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God, and the communion
of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
People: And with your spirit.
Celebrant: Dearly beloved JED and HONEY, God in some mysterious way, has drawn
you together in love. But He leaves you free to make it grow or let it wither or die. The
Lord will help you make it grow, if you do your share and stand to the commitment in the
covenant which you are about to seal.
Penitential Rite
Celebrant: Now, my brothers and sisters, coming together as God’s family, with
confidence, let us call to mind our sins and ask for the Father’s forgiveness for He is full
of compassion and love.
(Brief Silence)
All: I confess to Almighty God, and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly
sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and in what I have failed
to do;
[And, striking their breast, they say] through my fault, through my fault, through my most
grievous fault;
Therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my
brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.
Celebrant: May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive our sins, and bring us to
everlasting life.
People: Amen.
Song [Lord Have Mercy]
Opening Prayer
Celebrant: Let us pray. (Brief Silence)
Father, you have made the bond of marriage a holy, mystery, a symbol of Christ’s love
for his Church.
Hear our prayers for Jed and Honey. With faith in You and in each other, they pledge
their love today. May their lives always bear witness to the reality of that love. We ask
this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the
Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.
All: Amen.
Liturgy of the Word:
Commentator: Please be seated and listen for the Liturgy of the Word.
FIRST READING:
A reading from the Book of Tobit [Tobit 8:5-7]
Tobias rose from the bed and said to Sarah, “Get up, my sister; you and I must pray
and petition our Lord to win his grace and his protection.” She stood up and they began
praying for protection and this is how he began: “You are blessed, O God of our fathers;
blessed too, is your name forever and ever. Let the heavens and all your creation praise
you forever. You made Adam and you gave him his Eve to be his help and support; and
from these two the human race descended. You said, “It is not good for the man to be
alone; let us make him a partner like himself.’ Now, Lord, you know that I take this wife
of mine not because of lust, but of noble purpose. Call down your mercy on me and on
her, and allow us to live together to a happy old age.”
[Pause]
The Word of the Lord.
All: Thanks be to God!
Responsorial Psalm:
“How lovely is Your dwelling place, Oh Lord,
Mighty God, Lord of all!”
1. Even the lowly sparrow finds a home for her brood,
And the swallow, a nest for herself
Where she may lay her young
In Your altars, my King and my God. (Response)
2. Blessed are they whose dwelling is your own, Lord of Peace.
Blest are they refreshed by springs and by rain
When dryness daunts and scathes.
Behold my shield, my King and my God. (Response)
3. I would forsake a thousand other days anywhere
If I could spend one day in your courts, belong to you alone.
My strength are you alone, my glory, my King and my God. (Response)
SECOND READING:
A reading from the first letter of Saint Paul to Corinthians [1 Corinthians 12: 31-
13: 8]
Strive eagerly for the spiritual gifts. But I shall show you a still more excellent way. If I
speak in human and angelic tongues but do not have love, I am a resounding gong or a
clashing cymbal. And if I have the gift of prophecy and comprehend all mysteries and all
knowledge; if I have all faith so as to move mountains but do not have love, I am
nothing. If I give away everything I own, and if hand my body over so that I may boast
but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, (love)
is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not
quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but
rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all
things. Love never fails. [Pause]
The Word of the Lord.
All: Thanks be to God!
Commentator: Let us stand for the Gospel Acclamation.
ALLELUIA Sung
GOSPEL ACCLAMATION AND PROCLAMATION:
Celebrant: The Lord be with you.
People: And with your spirit.
Celebrant: A reading from the holy Gospel according to John (John 4:7-12)
People: Glory to you, O Lord.
Celebrant: Beloved, let us love one another, because love is God; everyone who lives is
begotten by God and knows God. Whoever is without love does not know God, for God
is love. In this way the love of God was revealed to us: God sent his only Son into the
world so that we might have life through Him. This is love: not that we have loved God,
but he loved us and sent his Son as expiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us,
we must also love one another. No one has ever seen God. Yet, if we love one another,
God remains in us, and his love is brought to perfection in us.
The Gospel of the Lord.
All: Praise to you, O Lord Jesus Christ!
Commentator: Please be seated for the homily.

All: Amen.
Commentator: For the blessings and exchange of rings and arrhae, may I request the

for the blessing of the Bible.
BLESSING OF THE ARRHAE
Celebrant: Jed and Honey, we shall now bless your arrhae and rings. [pause]
Our help is in the name of the Lord.
All: Who made heaven and earth.

of material possessions, which these arrhae symbolize so that they may use them to
attain eternal life, through Christ, our Lord.

will bless them, through Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.
[The priest sprinkles the Arrhae, the Rings and the Bible with holy water.]
GIVING OF THE RING
Celebrant: The wedding ring is the outward and visible sign of a spiritual bond which
unites two loyal hearts. It is a seal of the vows which you, Jed and Honey have made.
Now give these rings to each other.
[The priest takes the Ring of Honey and gives it to Jed who places it on finger of Honey,
saying:]
Jed: Honey, wear this ring as a sign of my love and loyalty to you, in the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Honey: Jed, wear this ring as a sign of my love and loyalty to you, in the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
GIVING OF THE ARRHAE
Celebrant: Hold these arrhae in your hands as a sign that your blessings will no longer
be held separately, but together. And may you always show that whatever possessions
you may have in this life is not ultimately yours but God’s.
[The groom holds the arrhae in his cupped hands and the bride places her cupped
hands under those of the groom who lets the coins fall into the bride’s hands, as he
says:]
Jed: Honey, I give you this arrhae as a pledge of my concern and dedication to your
welfare, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Honey: I accept them.
[Honey places the arrhae on the tray]
GIVING OF THE BIBLE
Celebrant: Jed and Honey, accept this Holy Bible, the Living Word of God. May His
words be a source of guidance, strength and wisdom as you live together in life.
Jed and Honey: We accept God’s Word with humility and fervent prayer that may God

together.
[The couple places the Bible on their pew.]
PRESENTATION OF THE NEWLY-WED COUPLE TO THE ASSEMBLED
COMMUNITY
Celebrant: My dear brothers and sisters gathered in this assembly, it is my honor to
present to you Jed and Honey as a newly married couple in our community. Let us give
them a warm applause.
Commentator: The Parents of the Couple and the Principal Sponsors may now go back
to their seats. Please stand for the Prayers of the Faithful.
PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL
Celebrant: Dearly beloved, let us pray for the Church and for our newly married couple
whose marriage reflects Her union with Christ. In every petition, we say:
“Lord, graciously hear us.”
1. For the Holy Church spread all over the world; for its leaders – Francis, our Pope, Arturo, our
Bishop and all the clergy; and for the ruler of our nation. Let us pray to the Lord.
2. For the poor and the sick and for all those in trial and affliction, that they may be able to feel
God’s love and compassion through others. Let us pray to the Lord.
3. For Jed and Honey, that God may keep their hearts united forever. Let us pray to the Lord.
4. That He may protect the newly married couple from evil, lighten their burdens and fortify
them in their trials. Let us pray to the Lord.
5. That God may stir up the grace of the Sacrament in all the married couples here present. Let
us pray to the Lord.
Celebrant: Almighty, eternal God, look down with favor upon your servants Jed and
Honey. Grant that they may remain faithful to You and to one another. And at the end of
a well-spent life, reward them with eternal happiness together with their children and
with all those who love them. We ask this, through Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.
Commentator: Please be seated for the preparation of the Gifts.
OFFERTORY
Commentator: May I request RALPH JOSEPH and ERNEST RUELLIE to put on
the VEIL. [The veil is laid over the head of Honey and the shoulder of Jed] Jed and
Honey, the veil emphasizes your union and your mutual self-surrender. May you grow in
unity and self-sacrifice as you begin a new stage of reciprocity and giftedness of self n
your married life. [Pause]
HOMER and JANICE shall put on the CORD. [Pause] [The Cord of an 8 is placed over
the shoulders of the Couple) The cord refers to yoke which means two things:
something has to be carried, and also something that unites those who carry it. Jed
and Honey, may you always be united in carrying out your obligations of the married
state. [Pause]
CARMELO and MARIANNE shall put on the RIBBON. [Pause] The ribbon refers to
the love and respect you, Jed and Honey, will have with and for each other. Your divine
union is built upon your friendship, made strong by your commitment, and made sacred
by your love. You are each a blessing for the other; a comforter, lover, companion, and
guide. You will enrich one another and discover many more blessings as you share your
lives together every day. [Pause]
LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST:
[The priest does the following silently while the Offertory Song is sung.]
Celebrant: Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we
have received the bread we offer you: fruit of the earth and work of human hands, it will
become for us the bread of life.
All: Blessed be God for ever.
Celebrant: Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we
have received the wine we offer you: fruit of the vine and work of human hands, it will
become our spiritual drink.
All: Blessed be God for ever.
[When the wedding symbols are in place, the priest invites the people in the following
words:]
Celebrant: Pray, brethren (brothers and sisters), that my sacrifice and yours may be
acceptable to God, the Almighty Father.
Commentator: Please stand.
All: May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name,
for our good and the good of all his holy Church.
PRAYERS OVER THE GIFTS
Celebrant: Receive, we pray, O Lord, the offering made in the occasion of this sealing
of the sacred bond of Marriage, and, just as your goodness is its origin may your
providence guide its course. Through Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.
PREFACE
Celebrant: The Lord be with you.
All: And with your spirit.
Celebrant: Lift up your hearts.
All: We lift them up to the Lord.
Celebrant: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
All: It is right and just.
Celebrant: It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
Always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God,
Through Christ our Lord.
For you willed that the human race,
Created by the gift of your goodness,
Should be raised to such dignity
that in the union of husband and wife
you might bestow a true image of your love.
For those you created out of charity
You call to the law of charity without ceasing
And grant them a share in your eternal charity.
And so, the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony,
As the abiding sign of your own love,
Consecrates the love of man and woman,
Through Christ our Lord.
Through Him, with the Angels and all the Saints,
We sing the hymn of your praise,
As without end we acclaim:
SANCTUS Sung
Commentator: Please kneel.
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER II
Celebrant: You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness. Make holy, therefore,
these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall, so that
they may become for us the Body and † Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his Passion, he took the bread
and, giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying:
TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT,
FOR THIS IS MY BODY, WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.
In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and, once more giving
thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying:
TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT,
FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD,
THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL COVENANT,
WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR MANY
FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS. DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.
Priest: The mystery of faith.
Commentator: Please stand.
ANAMNESIS Sung
Celebrant: Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his Death and Resurrection, we
offer you, Lord, the Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you
have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you.
Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ, we may be gathered
into one by the Holy Spirit.
Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world, and bring her to the
fullness of charity, together with Francis our Pope and Arturo our Bishop and all the
clergy.
Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the
resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy; welcome them into the light of your
face. Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
with St. Joseph, her spouse, with the blessed Apostles, and all the Saints who have
pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life, and may
praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ. [pause]
Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy
Spirit, all glory and honor is yours, for ever and ever.
People: AMEN (to be Sung)
Celebrant: At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:
OUR FATHER Sung
THE NUPTIAL BLESSING
Celebrant: [addressing the congregation] Let us humbly invoke by our prayers, dear
brothers and sisters, God’s blessings upon Jed and Honey, that in his kindness he may
favor with his help those in whom he has bestowed the Sacrament of Matrimony.
[All pray in silence for a while. Then the priest, with hands extended over the bride and
the groom continues…]
Celebrant: Holy Father, maker of the world, who created man and woman in your own
image and willed that their union be crowned with your blessing, we humbly beseech
you for these your servants, who are joined today in the Sacrament of Matrimony.
May your abundant blessing, Lord, come down upon Honey and Jed, her companion for
life, and may the power of your Holy Spirit set their hearts aflame from on high, so that,
living out together the gift of Matrimony, they may (adorn their family with children and)
enrich the Church.
In happiness may they praise you, O Lord, in sorrow may they seek you out; may they
have the joy of your presence to assist them in their toil, and know that you are near to
comfort them in their need; let them pray to you in the holy assembly and bear witness
to you in the world and after a happy old age, together with the circle of friends that
surrounds them, may they come to the Kingdom of Heaven. We ask this through Christ
our Lord.
All: Amen.
[The prayer “Lord Jesus Christ…” is omitted and the “Peace of the Lord…” is said
immediately]
SIGN OF PEACE
Celebrant: The peace of the Lord be with you always.
All: And with your spirit.
Celebrant: Let us offer each other the sign of peace.
LAMB OF GOD Sung
Commentator: Please kneel.
INVITATION TO COMMUNION
Celebrant: Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world.
Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
All: Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word
and my soul shall be healed.
COMMUNION
[After everyone has received communion, the Secondary sponsors may now remove
the wedding symbols in reversed order.]
Commentator: May I request Carmelo and Marianne to remove the cord.
May I request Homer and Carla to remove the cord.
May I request Ralph Joseph and Janice to remove the veil.
Celebrant: Let us pray.
Commentator: Please stand.
Celebrant: Almighty God, may the sacrifice we have offered and the Eucharist we have

this through Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.
ADMONITION
Celebrant: [facing the couple] Jed and Honey, now that you have received the
Sacrament of Matrimony, I admonish you to remain faithful to each other.
[to the bride] Honey, love your husband and be a good housewife; persevere in faith,
love and in holiness.
[to the Groom] Jed, love your wife as Christ loves his Church, and live with her in the
holy fear of the Lord.
THREE-FOLD BLESSING
Celebrant: [Addressing the congregation] We shall now give the newly-weds the three-
fold blessings. [Pause]. The Lord be with you.
All: And with your spirit.
Celebrant: May the Lord Jesus, who graced the marriage at Cana by his presence,
bless you and your loved ones.
All: Amen.
Celebrant: May he, who loved the Church to the end, unceasingly pour his love into
your hearts.
All: Amen
Celebrant: May the Lord grant that, bearing witness to faith in his Resurrection, you may
await with joy the blessed hope to come.
All: Amen.
FINAL BLESSING
Celebrant: And may Almighty God bless all of you, who are gathered here, the Father,
and the Son, † and the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen.
DISMISSAL
Celebrant: Go in peace, glorifying the Lord by your life.
All: Thanks be to God.
Celebrant: Jed, you may now kiss your wife Honey. Let us give the newly married
couple a big round of applause.
