Microsoft Dynamics On-premises Downgrade Policy

New customers acquiring Dynamics 365 Business Central, on-premises, Dynamics 365 for Operations, on-
premises, Dynamics GP, or Dynamics SL from the Dynamics Price list (DPL) must license the most current product
version. Microsoft grants new customers downgrade rights to prior versions as detailed below.
Existing customers current on a Dynamics Customer Service and Support Plan (e.g., Enhancement or Advantage
Plans) may continue to downgrade to their original version.
DPL On-premises Product Version Rule1 Downgrade Options
Dynamics 365 Business Central v17 or v16. Existing customers
Dynamics 365 Business
18 P-2 active on a Dynamics Customer Service and Support plan are

granted a downgrade exception to v14 until September 30, 2021.
Dynamics AX 2013 R3. The license keys issued with Dynamics 365
for Operations, on-premises will not work with prior versions of
the product. Customers who wish to downgrade to Dynamics AX
2012 R3 can submit a request to the Regional Operations Centre
Dynamics 365 for (ROC) via their Partner of Record. The ROC will enable AX 2012 R3
latest P-1
Operations license keys on the licenses of Dynamics 365 for Operations, on-
premises customers on a request basis. Customers who choose to
downgrade to AX 2012 R3 will be required to license any
additional users or functionality as required from the Dynamics
365 for Operations, on-premises price list.
Dynamics GP 2016 or 2015. Customers will be issued the
Dynamics GP 2018 P-2
appropriate license keys for the requested version.
Dynamics SL 2018 P-1 Dynamics SL 2015
1P is ‘purchased’ product version.
This policy does not apply to products licensed through Volume Licensing.
Note: Terms for components not available in the current version are based on the Software License Terms of the
most recent version containing those components. Customer's ability to access previous versions directly from
Microsoft may be limited if customer is not current on a Dynamics Customer Service and Support Plan. Please
