An Introduction to one-Point Perspective
● The Dictionary Definition of One point perspective is, “a mathematical system for
representing three-dimensional objects and space on a two-dimensional surface by
means of intersecting lines that are drawn vertically and horizontally and that radiate
from one point on a horizon line”.
● It is based on the concept that objects further
away are smaller. Here, All lines that are
perpendicular to our vision merge into the
vanishing point, which is situated in the
middle of the horizon (Also Called Eye
Level)
Drawing in one point perspective
● While drawing in one point perspective, we begin with making a horizon. In the
centre, we make a vanishing points. The sides facing us are rectangles, whereas the
areas facing sideways merge into the vaishing point.

● Things situated directly above, below or to


the side of the vanishing point will only show
2 faces. Otherwise, they will show 3 faces.
We need to remember that there is an error
if we can see 4 or more faces.
Man-made and Natural Objects
● While making man-made objects, mostly, all lines are straight, like on the right side
of the image on slide 1. While making rivers that are naturally curvy, we make the
curves based on a framework of lines (Refer to Image)
● While making trees, it is recommended to
make branches by making imprecise Vs,
branching out. It is absolutely essential that
we never make trees and other natural
objects by ruler.

One important thing is that while colouring/painting,


far away objects will be lighter than those near.
