COURSE SYLLABUS ON MASocStEd 200 - RESEARCH METHODS WITH STATISTICS

(1st Semester 2022-2023)

I. Course Description

Principles, concepts, methods, and techniques of research with special emphasis on the major steps in the design and conduct of empirical research
studies from problem definition, analysis, interpretation, to writing of the actual research report.

V. Course Objectives

At the end of the course, the students should be able to:

 Enumerate, describe and explain the basic foundations of research methods;

 Discuss the major steps in doing research;

 Define and explain the major principles, concepts, methods/techniques and practices used in the conduct of research; and

 Demonstrate the ability of doing research.

III. Methodology

The method of instruction that will be adopted in this course will be a blended learning modality (F2F and online) using both synchronous and
asynchronous delivery mode. It will be supplemented by class activities such as exercises in doing the research proposal, class presentations and
examinations.
