Base Plate Design and Welding Guide

This document provides design calculations for a truss support connection using a 250x250 SHS pin and a 300mm thick base plate. The calculations include: sizing the base plate area to 5000mm2 to support an axial load of 80kN; designing fillet welds around the base plate to support tension and shear loads; selecting 4 M16 grade 8.8 bolts based on tension, shear, and combined loading capacity; and checking bolt spacing, edge distance, bearing capacity and anchorage bond stress against design requirements. The document concludes that the design passes all checks for the base plate, welds, bolts and their placement.
