Cheetah Speed Data Analysis and Distribution

The document provides data on statistics marks from 20 samples collected by Adam. It includes a stem-and-leaf diagram of the marks. The five-number summary is 63, 70, 75.5, 82.5, 100. A box plot is constructed showing the marks between 51.25 and 101.25, with no potential outliers.

The cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) is the fastest land mammal on Earth and is highly
specialized to run down prey. According to the Cheetah Conservation of Southern Africa
Trade Environment Database, the cheetah often exceeds speeds of 60 mph and has been
clocked at speeds of more than 70 mph. the following table, based on information in a
database, gives the speeds, in miles per hour, over a ¼ mile for 35 cheetahs.

1. It is found that Adam manage to obtain 20 samples of Statistics marks from certain
classes. He represents the data in stem – and – leaf diagram as shown below.

7 0 0 1 2 2 5 6 9
8 1 1 2 3 3 8
9 2

a) From the stem – and – leaf diagram, find the five – number summary.
b) Hence, construct and label the box plot.
c) Identify the potential outlier, if any.

Q 2=(75+76)/2=75.5
Q 3=(82+83)/2=82.5
