Reflection on my performance as a writer
Through the semester, my growth as a writer has been very good. On the first day of class, the
professor told us to make a technical document and I didn’t even finish it since I did not know
what even a technical document was. But as the semester progressed and we did different
assignments, I began to learn how to write technical documents with each time having less
errors. Although each assignment was getting harder as the semester went on, it still felt
relatively simple by the end when making the progress report. My free writing skills also
improved a lot. In the first free writing, I was stuck the whole two minutes just thinking how to
start the exercise. It took me a while to get better since every day of class for a month I did not
know what to write while doing these exercises. After a lot of work and practice I finally started
to get the hang of it and before I knew it, I finally could write a full paragraph in two minutes
about any topic. I also learned how to write technical directions and write formal emails. The
assignment that took me the most time was the resume and cover letter since I was not that
good and fast in writing at that time. This is one of the most important courses I have taken in
college because it has helped me to be a better writer in other classes where I have to
constantly be writing essays and documents. I wish I had taken this course sooner because I
know I would have had better grades in my other classes. Although my growth as a writer has
helped me with other classes, I know that it will help me and be useful later in life whether its
for a job, a favor, or even a hobby. I learned a lot of valuable information in this class that I will
never forget.
