Overview of Renewable Energy Sources

Renewable resources are energy sources that can replenish naturally and provide a continuous supply of clean energy. Examples of renewable resources include solar, wind, geothermal, hydrothermal, dendrothermal, and nuclear energy. Solar energy comes from the sun and can be converted to electricity through solar panels. Wind power harnesses the kinetic energy of wind to turn turbine blades and generate electricity. Geothermal energy uses heat from within the earth for applications like heating homes. Hydrothermal energy comes from large bodies of water and powers hydroelectric dams. Dendrothermal energy comes from biomass sources like wood and agricultural waste. Nuclear energy releases energy from atomic nuclei to produce heat and electricity.

RENEWABLE

RESOURCES
What is renewable resource?
Renewable resources are an energy source that cannot be depleted and
are able to supply a continuous source of clean energy. It is a natural
resource which will replenish to replace the portion depleted by usage
and consumption, either through natural reproduction or other
recurring processes in a finite amount of time in a human time scale.

Examples of renewable resources are sun, wind,

geothermal energy, hydrothermal energy, dendrothermal
energy, and nuclear.
Sun
The Sun is capable of giving us energy and we know it as "Solar Energy".
Sunlight is converted into heat that is used to produce electricity. Solar
energy is considered a renewable resource because the sun constantly
produces the light used to generate electricity in a solar panel.
SOLAR ENERGY
WIND
Energy from the Sun produces wind which is a source of wind power. Wind has
been used to grind grains and pump water. Sailing ships have travelled by wind
power long before they were powered with fossil fuels. Wind is used to generate
electricity as its kinetic energy turns the turbine to create electricity.

An example is the bangui Wind Farm in ilocos Norte.

WIND AS RENEWABLE
geothermal energy
Geothermal energy is a type of renewable energy taken from the Earth's
core. It comes from the heat generated during the original formation of
the planet and the radioactive decay of materials. This thermal energy is
stored in rocks and fluids in the center of the earth.
Examples of this are geothermal heated homes, geothermal power
plants, hot springs, green houses, and spas.
GEOTHERMAL ENERGY
hydrothermal energy
The word itself "hydro", hydrothermal energy from a large body of water. 'Heat',
in this case, should not be associated with high temperature (as it may be with
geothermal energy) but rather a relative heat content or relative temperature
difference. We have several hydroelectric power plants in the country such as
the Maria Cristina Falls in Lanao Del Norte and Angat Dam in Bulacan.
HYDROTHERMAL ENERGY
DENDROTHERMAL ENERGY
The source of Dendrothermal energy is Biomass. The organic matter originated
from living organisms like wood, cattle dung, sewage, agricultural wastes, etc.
is called biomass. These substances can be used in the generation of
electricity. This can be burned direcly and used for heating and cooking.
Moreover, it can be processed to make biofuel.
dendrothermal energy
nuclear energy

Nuclear Energy is a form of energy released from the nucleas, the

core of atoms, made up of protons and neutrons. The release
energy is mostly in the form of heat. This heat is used to convert
water into steam. The steam turns blades of the turbine in nuclear
power plants and electricity is produced.

how do renewable resources
affect the earth

Renewable energy is less damaging to the Earth. It is generating energy that produces no
greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuels and reduces some types of air pollution, and
that will provide a cleaner and healthier environment for us
It could create economic development and jobs in manufacturing, installation, research,
etc. It reduces the speed of the developing climate change which makes the earth live a
little longer. It also gives us reliable power enough to last many years which helps us have an
alternative when technology fails.
advantages of renewable disadvantage sof renewable
resources such as: resources such as:

Zero carbon emissions

Cleaner air and water Renewable energy is not available round the clock.
Less global warming. The efficiency of renewable technologies is low.
Improved public health. The initial cost of renewable energy is high.
Inexhaustible energy. Renewable energy sites require a lot of space.
Jobs and other economic benefits. Renewable energy devices need recycling.
Stable energy prices.
