“REACTION PAPER”
Disney Pixar's animation Soul is much deeper than many people think of when they think
of animation. The film and its concept actually have a beautiful message. After watching it, I
realized there were a lot of things I needed to change about the way I was living. The film is
about Joe, a music teacher who enjoys playing the piano and listening to jazz music. He
fantasizes about working with a famous band, but as he gets closer to his goal, he falls into a
coma. He then finds himself on a spiritual journey that teaches him the value of life. So, here are
some life lessons I took away from the film Soul. One of the themes explored in the film is how
we are so preoccupied with life's difficulties that we fail to appreciate the little things and joys in
life. Most of us are always too busy pursuing goals and achievements, all the time, that we forget
to actually live, see life's beauty, listen to music, look up at the sky, enjoy our food...Each of us
have things that bring us joy, so why do we forget to actually enjoy it? This should also serve as
a reminder to prioritize making time for ourselves and doing things that make us happy. One of
the film's most defining moments is when "Joe" realizes his dream of playing with the famous
band. This served as a reminder to me to appreciate what we've accomplished and our success,
even if it may appear mundane or boring to some. Most of us don't realize how important the
work we're doing because we're focused on the next step and want to do more. It's critical to
remember to enjoy the journey that brought us to where we are and where we're going. When Joe
Gardner falls to his death the team on soul created a place for him to go that was meant to be
ethereal and vaporous and took inspirations from Hinduism and metaphysics. In soul, people's
souls are shown to appear on a bridge in a dark void when they die, here the spirits are forced to
look upon a massive glowing light that draws them in within the vast space and through that
portal lies the great beyond, the last place a soul goes as in beyond life. Instead of just fading
away from the world souls float up into the light and become more simplified small ball versions
of themselves until they enter the great beyond and are turned into bits of blue red and yellow,
it's a portal that brings you to a place that is unknown that is completely left up to interpretation.
The soul world also has a lot more areas outside of the great beyond though we are told that in
addition to being the place souls go when they die this is where souls are given their personalities
and where they are transported to when they are in the zone. There is a message in the movie for
everyone, and it gives a very interesting perspective regarding the idea of an afterlife and living
life as a whole. In conclusion, life is an opportunity to experience new things, meet new people,
and learn as much as possible and there need not be a purpose to life. But living the life the way
you want will help you die peacefully. That would be the really purpose of life.
