A. Setting the Stage

1. Preparation

2. Review
Last session, we’ve learned about the different sense. Now, let us answer Learners take turn answering

Directions: Look at the picture on the left. Then, draw a circle around the

family. First let us identify what family is.

Today, we are going to identify who are the members of the family.

B. Modelling

Family are people living in under one roof. A family consist of mother,
father, brother, sister, and a baby.

This is a picture of a mother.


Her name is mother Maria.
Again her name is /m/aria.

The letter that produces initial /m/ sound is letter Mm. This is Mm.

C. Generalization

We all have family. Family consists of mother, father, brother, sister and
baby and the initial sound of Mm is /m/.

D. Guided Practice

“Shapes Frame; My Family”


Procedures:

1. Ask the learners to say the shapes and choose what they would like
to use for the frame that they will make.
2. Ask the learners to get 10 cut out shapes. Let them get more later
should they need to.
3. Let the learners stick the shapes to the board paper to make a
picture frame.
4. Ask the learners to draw their family members inside the frame using
crayons, colored markers, and/or pencils.
5. Assist the learners in writing down the names of their family
members on the picture frame.

E. Independent Practice
Letter Mosaic: Mm

Procedures:
1. On a piece of 2’ x 3’ of craft paper, write the outline of the letters Mm
and Aa in upper and lowercase.
2. Ask the learners to paste the colored paper on the entire letter.
3. Ask the learners to say the letter name and sound

F. Closure:
You did a great job! Let’s give ourselves an amazing clap!

Directions: Draw the members of your family inside the house.

This is number 4. And this is how we write 4.

1. Ask the learners to count four objects/counters.


2. Encourage learners to arrange them in different ways,
pretending that the family members are engaging in different .
activities (i.e. sleeping, farming, playing, etc.)
3. Check if the learners are able to say that there are still four
counters even though their arrangements are being changed. Learners will perform the activity.

F. Independent Practice

Activity: It’s a match! Learners will perform the activity.

Procedures:
1. Place the numeral cards face down in a box.
2. Place the corresponding dot pattern cards in the chalk tray
3. Learners get a card from the box and place it over the
equivalent card in the chalk tray

Note: For matching activities, teachers may present learners with


varied materials that include tactile materials or concrete objects. For
instance, instead of just matching colors, learners may match objects
with the same texture. Teachers may use cloth swatches, cotton,
corrugated paper, etc. Learners may also match the objects with the
same shapes such as pencils, coins, blocks, or varied manipulatives.
