Introduction to NGO
Nirbhed Foundation imparts elementary education to children who are
economically weak and are working, school dropouts, and children who never
went to school. We educate them, interact with them, involve them in
extracurricular activities, give moral education and ethics to these children,
and take care of their health. Nirbhed operates day, evening, and night classes
for such children. Team Nirbhed is working rigorously in providing basics like
Education, Clothing, Nutritional Food, and Medical Facilities by organizing
health camps, Skill Development, Health, and Hygiene, running Environmental
Protection drives, and various other awareness projects for the less privileged
people/children residing in slums/rural part of India
The name Nirbhed Is self-explanatory, it means without discrimination-
“Equality for All”.

When I finalize the NGO after that we discussed what topic to choose on which I have to
work. Then I choose the topic of “innovative practices in teaching”. I observed the different
problems which children are facing and due to which they are not able to perform well and
make good careers many of them don't even go to school or college and remain illiterate.
Some main problems are like:
• Using Old Teaching Techniques:
As most of the government schools in India have teachers that are admitted
based on the marks, they have scored in their entrance exam hence teachers
sometimes indulge in illegal ways to get themselves admitted into these
schools being unworthy. Hence, they are not able to teach children in a good
way mostly. As I have seen they just tell anyone student to read the book and
that’s it chapter finished from their side, but the students don’t even
understand the basic words which they read or listen that’s why they lost
interest in studying. And maximum of them bunk their classes as they know
no any new thing will happen in class.
• Poverty :
As I worked in NGO I came to know that the students have very much
pressure on them because of money because maximum of students whom I
teach are from slum areas and they have very poor families who work daily to
fill their stomachs, some students are doing jobs of Rag picking which they
sell to earn some money coz all the weight of family is on them. still, they
want to study but the condition of a government school in UP is not very
good maximum of teachers only came to take attendance and nothing. I
teach Science subject to students of class 6th when I asked how many
chapters are completed in your schools they told me that the teacher came
only 3 days till now in their class. he is roaming in school but does not attend
their class. and the class monitor takes attendance of the class and sends
them on written paper to the teacher for attendance.
• No or improper Counselling :
Despite the emergence of school counselling in India over a decade ago. But
the condition of government school is not changed because a maximum of
government schools don't have counsellors which are now important these
days according to HRD ministry data nearly 10,000 students attempt suicide
every year. Mental stress is one of the most common factors behind this. It
happens because students don't have a person with whom they can talk
about the problems or stress they are facing and choose the wrong way be it
alcohol, drugs, or in extreme cases suicide.

First of all, I tried to outreach into their minds to get a proper idea of their knowledge. after
that, I teach them about our body organs and common diseases like common cold fever
diarrhoea, etc and the medicine used for it which are antipyretics, antibiotics, and
antihelminthic, so that they know what to do in these conditions by the way I teach science
subject of 6th class so to make them understand clearly I used stories, examples of the real
world so that they can understand well so that they would not get bored in class. I also use
different types of videos so they can be able to understand well and ask doubts. I also teach
them how to use a PC or laptop because they all belong to a very poor family, so they are
using the computer for the first time so that they all are very happy to use it. I also asked what
they want to be in the future many of them want to be soldiers some wants to be a doctor
and engineers also I told them how they can achieve their dream by making a clear roadmap
for them according to their goals. I also encouraged them to participate in other activities like
dance and storytelling, anchoring etc as I already said that in my class most of them come
from a very poor family some of my students are doing part-time jobs to support their family
in free time or help their parents on their job so that our NGO provide all the study material
food , clothes to them for free so that their parents can have low pressure for their study
expenses this reduces stress on children too and I talk to them time to time as a Big Brother
so they can share there any problem with me I also told them about various government
schemes for their scholarships for higher studies I told them about MHRD websites and many
other scholarship schemes I also took 2 tests in which I framed Question paper like as
competitive exams means it comprises MCQ, Reasoning questions so they can understand
the pattern of competitive exams and I also take their vivas and also teach them about
personal skills cleanliness how to dress. etc to increase their personality

From the beginning of the project i.e., from 19th June 2022 to 10th July 2022 we easily came
across about 30 students studying in class 6th Instead of providing them just theoretical
knowledge I insisted on the practical implementation of what I taught them. We also played
games and watched videos as well hence the students never felt that they are Studying. And
Learning things they all are very active too. They all perform well in the test too. But 2 students
did great their names are Vidhi and Mahendra. Vidhi is intelligent so it is not that shocking,
but Mahendra got 2nd Rank which is a very big surprise for me because he is the most annoying
and naughty kid in my class, but he is good in academics which is a very good sign.
And in my class a student named Bhagwan Das is very weak he even doesn’t recognize Hindi
or English words even he also gave very good answers in viva but not in writing, but he also
improved because I gave him special books and diff homework from others. So, this project
is effective because they all learn new things and I also like the atmosphere overall these 25
days are very enjoyable for me.

In recent times, many social forces have changed community life for young children. the main problem
was poverty and no rights. Children were deprived of basic education; they were having health
problems due to hygiene issues. So Nirbhed Foundation is working to help such children. They need
more volunteers to do so and through this community development project, I was able to add my
contribution. Through this project, I was not only able to bring a little change in the lives of some
students, but I believe I have come up a better person after working with them. Because this is the
first time, I speak in front of many people it gives me very much confidence and I am very thankful to
LPU for providing me with such an opportunity to serve our society and helping me in gaining the true
meaning of knowledge and to become a better citizen for the society as well for our country.
