As the covid-19 spread throughout the world, the threat of this virus arises from many

countries. Philippines are one of the most affected countries in Asia. It brings to
situation in which all institution is forced to change their mode of learning. The
government’s department of education issued recommendation for implementing online
and modular distance learning for teaching and learning. This research assessed the
teachers in Unit 3 in the status of preparedness of elementary teachers in face-to-face
classes in the District of Alfonso. Mixed method research was used in this study. The
quantitative part utilized a descriptive method that assessed the status of preparedness
of teachers in the District of Alfonso. The qualitative part, ideas and concepts are from
respondents’ opinions. Three questions were answered in this study. Fully prepared
with the weighted mean of 3.74 is the level of preparedness of teachers as revealed in
4- point Likert Scale. The difficulties encountered by teachers in the preparation of face-
to-face classes are lack of materials to be used in the classrooms, chairs, teachers and
lack of funds while teachers’ recommendations are proper planning and consider the
actual situation of the school, provide enough supplies for learners (modules and
textbooks), and provide materials needed in enhancing the classrooms, funding the
needs of pupils, secure the safeties of all the teachers and students inside the school
premise.
This study involved 54 teachers of Unit 3 in the District of Alfonso. Interpretation of
qualitative data relied only on how the researcher interpreted the participants
responses.
This research assessed the teacher’s status of preparedness.
