1.0 INTRODUCTION
For this statistics assignment, the topic chosen is FOOD INTAKE BY IPGKPP STUDENTS. The purpose of
this survey is to analyze the food intake pattern by IPGKPP STUDENTS and to question if students are
taking balanced diet and if they are able to access healthy food in the campus. In this statistics study, the
population selected are all IPGKPP students and the sample are from those who answered the google
form provided. The age range of students participated are from 18 to 22 years old.
2.0 RESEARCH METHOD
The statistical method involves, mathematical formulas which is the BMI calculation, models created
from excel sheets and inference analyzing techniques that are used in statistical analysis of raw research
data. The application of statistical methods extracts information from research data variables examined
are weight and height of students and frequency of intake vegetables, instant noodle and rice. the
parameter taken from frequency of food intake are ranging from zero days to seven days in a week. All
the data collected and its measured value are organized in excel sheets which has been attached in the
attachment

3.0 RESEARCH FINDINGS
3.1 Count of gender of survey participants
DIAGRAM 1: A pie chart of count of gender of survey participants
Gender frequency Percentage(%.)
Male 10 23.8
female 32 76.2
The diagram above which shows the count of gender representation of 42 IPGKPP Students. A pie chart of
percentage of gender representation from sample collected was created. A pie chart is a circular statistical
graphic, which is divided into slices to illustrate numerical proportion. In a pie chart, the arc length of each slice
is proportional to the quantity it represents.
Thus, female represent the major percentage of sample collected which is 76.2% from 32 female
participants. Conversely, Male represent minority which is 23.8 % from 10 participant. Based on collected
data, we can conclude that IPGKPP students have majority of female students.
3.2 frequency of skipping of breakfast by IPGKPP students
Frequency of skipping of breakfast Number of students
Once in a while 17
Almost everyday 12
Not at all 13
Diagram 2: A line chart of frequency of skipping of breakfast
Question of How often do you skip breakfast was asked in the survey to analyze the frequency of skipping
of breakfast among the students. From the answer a line graph was plotted which shows that majority of
17 students skip their breakfast once in a while which represent the highest percentage of 40%.Next on
the list is students skipping breakfast almost every day with the percentage of 29% and the number of
students is 12. Meanwhile students not skipping their breakfast at all being the lowest percentage of 31%
and number of students of [Link] on the research by the Knowledge ,it is stated that main reasons
behind breakfast skipping among students were not having enough time in the morning, reduced
appetite, concerns about weight and body image .This is due to uncertainty in which some days they
have to leave earlier for classes and this proves why ,12 student which is 32% skip their breakfast almost
every day. This will bring serious health issue in long run which includes migraines and slow metabolism.

3.3 Frequency of intake of instant noodle, vegetable and carbohydrate
Diagram 3: A combo chart of bar chart and line chart of frequency of intake of instant noodle,
vegetables and carbohydrate in days of a week.
We all know that healthy lifestyle comes from the food we take and its important to analyze the food
pattern of IPGKPP students. Diagram 3 was used to arrange and organize the collected data to properly
analyze. If we take a look at the trend of taking instant noodle, highest percentage of 29% with 12
students reported to take instant noodle at least once in a week. Lowest percentage of 5% being
represented by both five and six days in a week with number of students 2 and 2 respectively. Thus, can
conclude that around 10% of students take instant noodle more than 4 days in a week. Regular instant
noodle consumption has also been associated with an increased risk of metabolic syndrome, a group of
symptoms including excess abdominal fat, high blood pressure, high blood sugar and abnormal blood lipid
levels. This proves these 10 % of students are at higher risk of obesity. Next the frequency intake of
vegetables was questioned and the finding from data collected can be interpreted that highest
percentage of 23%. with 10 students take vegetable at least 3 times a week. Meanwhile no one choose to
skip vegetables in any days of a week which shows that students consume vegetables at least once a
week .However, The 5 A Day campaign is based on advice from the World Health Organization (WHO),
which recommends eating a minimum of 400g of fruit and vegetables a day to lower the risk of serious
health problems, such as heart disease, stroke and some types of cancer. Next intake of carbohydrate
was interpreted and can be concluded that highest percentage of 48% with 20 students takes rice almost
all seven day. Meanwhile zero students choose to skip rice in a week . rice is a healthy choice of food as it
is High in fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidant and is also low in saturated and total fat.

3.4 Body weight category with number of students
Diagram 4: A bar chart of body category with number of students.
Weight and height of students were asked in the survey to calculate BMI students. The BMI was
calculated using the formula is BMI = kg/m2 where kg is a person's weight in kilograms and m2 is their
height in meters squared. Then the number of students based on their weight category were arranged in
a table and a bar graph was plotted. The following points shows the range of BMI with respect to its
weight category
• Underweight: BMI is less than 18.5.
• Normal weight: BMI is 18.5 to 24.9.
• Overweight: BMI is 25 to 29.9.
• Obese: BMI is 30 or more.
From the bar chart highest percentage of 60% are in normal weight category and only 10% are
categorized into overweight category
3.5 Percentage of student’s satisfaction towards types of food available in the campus.
Diagram 5: A pie chart of percentage of students satisfaction towards types of food available in the
campus
Based on the pie chart ,highest percentage of 58.5% of student are not satisfy with the food available in
the campus .This can be proved as currently the café isn’t operating and student are having a hard time
to get access to healthy food. Thus, they end up buying fast food such as pizza and burger from the mall
nearby. Meanwhile 41.5% of student are satisfy a with food available as from the beginning they prefer
to order online. Thus, can be concluded that the campus organizers can arrange a more healthy and
balanced food that students can access.
4.0 Conclusion
Overall this statistical study shows that students of IPGKPPP students somehow follow a balanced diet
and majority of students have an ideal weight . However intake of junk food such as instant noodle can
be reduced if students are able to access to healthy food. Based on the interpreted model as majority of
students stated their dissatisfaction towards the food available in the campus in the future more healthy
options can be provided
