The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) was created on September 26, 1977.

It
was established to respond to the critical and growing need for research for planning and
policy formulation.

PIDS is a non-stock, non-profit government institution engaged in long-term policy-oriented

research to assist the government in planning and policy formulation.

The title is awarded to retired Professors who have made an exceptional contribution in

academic leadership terms, including dedicated achievement to his or her field of study. ... If
an Emeritus Professor returns to paid employment at the University their title would revert to
'Professor'.
Adjunct professors are defined as professors who are hired on a contractual basis, usually in
part-time positions. Adjunct faculty teach courses just as full-time professors do, but they are
exempt from some of the responsibilities of fully employed university instructors.
