Understanding SYNOP Code Format

This document provides a summary of how to decode a SYNOP surface report from a land station. It explains that a SYNOP report contains 21 data groups which provide weather observations including temperature, wind, pressure, precipitation, and cloud conditions. Each data group is decoded to indicate what meteorological element is being reported, such as wind speed, wind direction, temperature, and cloud types. Sample SYNOP reports are also included to demonstrate the code format.
