REFLECTION NOTES / JOURNAL

The conduct of today’s quarterly meeting has been very productive in a way that the
agenda have been carried out successfully. It has been attended by the faculty and staff of the
school who have also given their fair share of contribution by actively participating in the
said meeting through proactively expressing their thoughts and ideas.

Personally, the said meeting has given me a clear view of what needed to be complied
and accomplished for the whole week such as the contextualized learning activity sheets and
the lesson plans per learning area handled. Truth be told, the contextualization of LAS’s is
really a struggle and challenging at the same time, considering the limitation of time to
prepare it, the resources needed to reproduce the materials (since the resograph machine is
not working) and the number of learning areas to be contextualized. In my case, there’s five
and I don’t know how and where to even begin contextualizing.

On the other hand, the distribution of modules went well for the week. Most of the
students have already complied with their previous learning tasks and activities. For the
following week, the class has agreed to utilize the google classroom application for the
retrieval and submission of their learning modules since all of them owns a gadget and has
access to the internet. For those who might struggle to access one, a hardcopy will be printed
out specifically for them – plan sounds great but to no avail since internet connection within
the area at the moment is intermittent thus, unreliable.

There are still many works to do in the days ahead that I almost don’t go out of my
“To-do list”. It’s as if, every day, new task is being added on the list instead of having to
delete what’s already accomplished. It’s tiring but I know I have to keep trying. Indeed, it
has been a very busy week for contextualization and reproduction.

Honestly speaking, the week has been draining. But I have long accepted the fact that
all these are part of the job I have to fulfill as a public-school teacher. I realized, I have to
positively accept and embrace the volume of works I have to perform because, I don’t want
to suffer the consequence of being negatively impacted by working with a heavy heart. I’d
rather want to protect my peace of mind by working peacefully and finishing the things I
know I can accomplish at the moment rather than being unproductive and negative.

At the end of the day, it’s not a question of how well I have performed but more on
how my students are doing and coping in this new normal in education. It’s not what’s in it
for me but what’s in it for them. So, no matter how tiring the day is, I must continue to hustle
so, I can make a difference in the lives of my students and hopefully, help them be the person
that they want to be in the years to come.
