Reflection:
1. Think of a recent novel/story that you've read.
Answer the following questions:
a. How did you learn from the story?
Recently I’ve read the story of Turtle all the way down by John Green one of my
favorite authors and it actually depicts mental health issues as the main character
who’s a young girl was suffering from a great loss and a obsessive compulsive
disorder. The story actually elaborates a real life situation that most of the young one’s
has been experiencing and perhaps me as one of a young adults felt such connections
towards this story as I was also a mental health advocate and at the same time I was
also experiencing such mental health issues. Given the fact that I am very invested in
this kind of story, it was actually inspiring and could literally motivate you as if you
were the main character experiencing the difficulty and on how she manage her life in
a way that would aspire any individuals.
b. Apply the experience to Rizal's Sacrifice. How would you say Rizal's sacrifices
impart patriotism?
Life was always been challenging and it’s way harder during those times that Rizal are
battling for truth and knowledge. It would be easy for him to just have any kind of
education or just live a life that has been offered to him but he choose his own path to
seek for the rightful knowledge that would help him in his goals. Rizal can juts choose
to be selfish and live a life that would actually help him safe from any harm in his
environment but he literally choose hardship for a purpose and live a life that would
matter. And with that it’s easy to say that one’s sacrifice like Rizal shows admiration
to the country that symbolizes patriotism.
Define Me:
2. Characterized the Youth of today in terms of the following:
a. Morality
The youth today actually posses such morality that is highly influence by media, a
platform that most likely affects each younger individual as they were more exposed online
especially during these days of pandemic. The basis of their behavior and how they judge an
act as morally right and wrong was based on the established mindset they gained from the
influence of the internet.
c. Love of Education
It’s easy to say that the younger ones were quite exposed to love or has this kind of
mentality to seek for that kind of relationship even though at their young age and this
leads to such lack of initiative when it comes to education. Love is like not just an
expression of admiration but more on the other side as it was also influence by the
media itself. And education actually prospers as they were presented with many
platforms to learn and to have such scholarships offer in different areas.
d. Hobbies and Recreations
Hobbies probably just depicts the social media interaction or how they were being
captured by computer or mobile games, recreational activities are rare these days as some
lost their interest on such acts and would love to just sit watch or play such virtual games.
e. Social and Political Responsibilities
I cannot fully say that they lack in support towards their responsibilities as some of them
actually focus on how the virtual world will appreciate them rather than having that
motivation towards changing the world or the country’s perception. Most of the young ones
are wandering around seeking for their own purpose not likely to have that appreciation to
the country and I’m glad that there are also some who leads towards seeing the wrong in the
bad governance that must be adhere for this would actually open many eyes to see what’s
wrong in the country and how they will aspire to choose a better one in the making.
