I live in Portugal and have been an artist for as long as I can remember. But as
I discovered while looking through my drawings from kindergarten, I wanted to be
a gardener when I grew up. When I was 5 years old, I sold my first drawing to a nice
woman named Maria. She gave me the equivalent of 5 euros for one drawing and
bought many drawings over a few years. That was the beginning of something I
never knew I would do until today. I began to explore art and experimented with
different forms of photography, video, sculpture, painting and digital art.
In college, I studied visual arts and sound and image. Later, I became interested in
design. I have never stopped learning new things and I continue to find new areas
of interest.

This book is about my experiences with Genetic Art. The images you are
about to see are mathematical images created by Visions of Chaos, a powerful
image generator and simulation program. In this case, the program uses genes
that I specified and evolves them into different results. These images are the
results that I liked the most.
