The second semester is nearly at its end.
I've been under so much pressure in the previous weeks of
online learning due to school loads, but I can guarantee the learnings and competencies I've built up
from my efforts to learn and the experiences. The whole semester in my second year in this course isn't
all about challenges, it is also about nurturing and developing my previous knowledge and exploring new
concepts. As I recall again my academic attainment of the previous Assessment in Learning, It becomes
my foundation to make my way into a more challenging yet extra solid understanding of my course.
Now that I got my way up to the Assessment in Learning 2, not only does it feels like the lessons are
leveling up, but also the experiences were extra difficult now. However, I'm satisfied with my
performance, the new learnings, the new self-discoveries, and the way it molds me to become a better-
aspiring educator.
The course provided me with ideas about how I will deal with my profession. It helped me become ready
in the field of my career. How I would learn to use my skills and how I make use of the strategies that
could cater to the needs of my coming students, is what the course offers. I realized that there is more
to know about my course. It doesn't stop there knowing your purpose and function as an educator, yet
you have more responsibilities and you can't stop learning. Knowing that education shifts from time to
time to more useful and effective paradigms, in this course I learned to be flexible and eager to become
deserving of this position not just for acquiring a job, but as well as to serve the country.
Forasmuch as the course titled Assessment in Learning, the lesson itself focuses on how we can provide
authentic assessments and better evaluation of students' performances. The course made me
comprehend that merely providing assessment tasks representative of the professional discipline is
not enough for creating an authentic experience for the students. Students should perceive it as
meaningful and see it as relevant and representative of their future professional roles, meaning
that they see the link to a situation in the real world or working situation, or they regard it as a
valuable transferable skill. This is something valuable to me, too. As an educator, our goal is to lead
our children to the right path and that is to prepare them for the life outside the school's walls.
For me, and based on my learnings of this course, implementing authentic assessment helps us become
effective educators, and why? Because we are not sustaining only the children's basic education, we are
giving them the privilege to have their dream jobs or careers. With authentic assessment, they'll get to
experience real-life problems that may get them ready after they accomplished their education. And as
for me, It is my pride that one day, with my profession, I am part of the change for a better world. That
one day, I am among the educators that students are proud to have. This reflection is not only about my
experiences of the course and the knowledge and skills I gained, but it's also about how the course
stimulated me to dream bigger and grab the course as an opportunity to achieve that dream.
Autobiography
Every story has a beginning.
Mine starts in my hometown, the Dalaguete, particularly in Barangay Casay. My name is Chariesse
Belamia, 21 years of age The names of my wonderful parents are, Leodegario Belamia and Carolina
Belamia. My Father is out of a job for now, but my Mother is currently teaching in Elementary School
here in our Barangay. I'm not an only child, I have a twin sister, named Mariesse. I also have an elder
sister named, Angelie Ann, and the youngest of the family is my sister Feunice Grace. I grew up more
attached to my grandparents and as a young girl, I learned from them my values and even my artistic
talent. Values, like watching out for your family, self-reliance, and serving others. I’m proud to say that I
still try to live my life according to those values.
And every story there is a main character, and that main character has strengths, weaknesses, and
characteristics. And because it's my story, I will share with you my strength, weaknesses, and the type of
person I am. Let me start with my characteristics. I'm the type of person who likes to lend help to people
in need. I'm good at listening to others and I talk less, but when I'm with a group with the same vibe as
mine, I can be crazy too. My weaknesses are one, I can't handle even mild noises in my surrounding
while I'm reading or trying to comprehend things, I easily get distracted. And the other is, I think I have
short memory retention issues, I easily forgot things especially when I'm preoccupied with a lot of
thoughts in my head. As for my strength, even if I easily get distracted, I can give all my might and that is
my full attention on certain things that I have to deal with and get done in a given period. Yes, that's me
indeed.
In a story, the main character also has a dream and one of my dreams is to provide for the needs of my
parents as well as make them happier, and proud and give them a better life someday. It might sound
unusual to some of you, but I don't have ambition for a specific career. However, I'm currently taking up
Bachelor in Elementary Education which I can regard as influenced by my Mother, or maybe it just runs
in our blood because most of my aunts took this profession too. In fact, I hate the course, but as I
journey with it I learned to love it. For now, I'm taking my mother's words as my guidance and
inspiration to continue to soar my new aspiration which is to get the title, "Licensed Professional
Teacher".
The story of my life has not yet in its end, I think many chapters need to be flipped before the climax.
But one thing is for sure, I will continue to write my life story and give it a happy ending.
