Self-Reflection
My final essay involved arguing toward fighting mental health stigma as mental health
stigma is proven to be a detriment to those with mental health disorders. With this in mind, I
hope that more awareness is brought forth regarding mental health stigma and I hope that this
essay works in lowering mental health stigma everywhere.
There were many revisions that I took including fixing grammar and reshuffling sources
to make the argument more consistent and easier to follow.
Regarding peer reviews, I always tried to put my complete honest opinions and make
them as understandable as possible. I tried to make sure there was positive feedback alongside
constructive criticism. With relation to other General Education courses that I’ve taken, this
assignment required me to utilize the scientific method and use the knowledge I had from this
class and English 1010 to correctly format an MLA paper and implement sources correctly.
The research I conducted taught me a lot about mental health that I hadn’t previously
understood. I feel much more confident discussing mental health and mental health stigma than I
felt before I completed this paper. There was an assumption that mental health stigma would just
phase out through the next generations but after putting more research into this topic, that
assumption was proven wrong and proved that the severity of this argument was much higher
than I previously anticipated. I consider myself as an effective writer who can write unbiasedly
and critically on subjects that I have strong feelings on or subjects that I have no opinions

toward. My paper does fulfill the quota required for the essay and makes a strong argument while
also debunking counterarguments. It could be improved with more sources and more explanation
throughout some parts of the essay but I feel it could fulfill an “A” grade.
