OSP-P200L Tool List Display Manual

This document is a supplement manual for the MACTURN/MULTUS series CNC system that describes the used tool list display function. The used tool list displays the tools used in a machining program in the order they appear. It can be created either when selecting a program to run or by pressing a function key in tool data setting mode. The used tool list then appears in windows that show tool offset, nose radius compensation, and tool wear offset values which can be changed. Parameters determine if the used tool list is created and which screens have priority display. Errors that may occur during used tool list creation are also described.

SECTION 1. USED TOOL LIST DISPLAY FUNCTION

Used tool list is the function used for displaying the tool offset selected from the current machining program and
allows you to change the setting.
The machining program has judgment sentences such as IF, GOTO. Therefore, order of execution of a program can
change by the neighboring situation. This function makes a list in an order of appearance of tool command from the
top of a selected program (Include calling sub program).

1. How to Create the Used Tool List

There are two methods to create a used tool list.
1) When selecting a machining program in the automatic operation mode
2) When pressing the function key [F1] for creating the used tool list in tool data setting mode

1-1. When Selecting a Machining Program in the Automatic Operation Mode

The following window appears when selecting a machining program in the automatic operation mode. If "execute"
is set in the used tool list column on the following window, the used tool list will be created.

1-2. When Pressing the Function Key [F1] for Creating the Used Tool List in Tool Data Setting Mode
When the USED TOOL OFFSET/ NOSE R COMPENSATION or USED TOOL WEAR OFFSET screen appears
in tool data setting mode, "USED TOOL LIST" is shown on the function key [F1]. If this function key [F1] is pressed,
the used tool list will be created.

- 3 -
2. Used Tool List Display
If the used tool list is already created at step tool offset data appears on the "USED TOOL OFFSET/NOSE R
COMPENSATION" and "USED TOOL WEAR OFFSET" screens in tool data setting mode.
In these screens, the setting values of tool offset, nose R compensation and tool wear offset can be changed.
Functions, such as SET, ADD and CAL, can be used in the same manner as the "TOOL OFFSET/NOSE R
COMPENSATION" and "TOOL WEAR OFFSET" screens.

2-1. "USED TOOL OFFSET/NOSE R COMPENSATION" (X/Z-Axes) Screen

The following window appears as the USED TOOL OFFSET/NOSE R COMPENSATION screen.

Item Description
Tool number
TNO. A symbol “Y” appears only when YI-axis tool offset is set.
A symbol “@” appears only when tool wear offset is set.
Edge number (This column becomes effective only when the machine is
PN
multiple tool type.)
ONO. Tool offset number
SPIN Spindle mode (This column appears only if the machine is sub-spindle type.)
"Arrow mark" and "BASE/ VERT." indicate the direction for indexing the turret.
INDEX
"A” or “B" indicates indexing command along the M-axis (A: M602/ B: M603)
BA Turret indexing angle
G52 Presence or absence of the turret rotation compensation command
PROCESS Process kind (This type is represented by the classification code of the tool
KIND shape.)
RNO. Nose R compensation number

Please refer a manual “OSP-P200L OPERATION MANUAL(Pub No. 5241-E) SECTION 3 TOOL DATA
SETTING 3. Tool Shape” for TOOL EDGE DATA. TOOL EDGE DATA can refer in this screen.
And this screen has some information (actual position, actual tool number and so on).

- 4 -
2-2. "USED TOOL OFFSET/NOSE R COMPENSATION" (YI-Axes) Screen
If the function key [F5] (AXIS CHANGE) is pressed while the above screen is shown, the following screen
appears.

2-3. "USED TOOL WEAR OFFSET" Screen

The following screen appears as the USED TOOL WEAR OFFSET screen.

- 5 -
3. Order of Window Display
"USED TOOL OFFSET/ NOSE R COMPENSATION" and "USED TOOL WEAR OFFSET" windows appear first in
tool data setting mode. Therefore, the order of displaying screens in tool data setting mode is as follows:

If you want the conventional "TOOL OFFSET/NOSE R COMPENSATION" and "TOOL WEAR OFFSET" screens
to appear for the first, set "No effect" for No.59 "Priority display for used tool offset screen" in the "OTHER
FUNCTION in OPTIONAL PARAMETER" in the PARAMETER SETTING screen.
In this case, the screens will appear with the following order.

- 6 -
4. Parameter
4-1. OPTIONAL PARAMETER OTHER FUNCTION NO.59
Set "execute" or "do not" for the used tool list creation when selecting a program.
Default: "execute"

4-2. OPTIONAL PARAMETER OTHER FUNCTION NO.60

Set "Effect" or "No effect" for the used tool priority display on the TOOL OFFSET screen.
Default: "Effect"

4-3. PARAMETER Screen

4-4. ATC macro command M-code number

This function extracts a tool-related order by reading cutting program. In addition, a tool-related order does not
support an expression. When you displayed “USED TOOL OFFSET” when an expression is used for these orders,
the screen has an error message “Some use tool data are out of a range”. (Please refer Error of a next page.)
However, ATC macro command (M421/M321) using an expression supports not to become an error.
If you use ATC macro command other than M421 or M321, please set M-code number of the ATC macro command
in the following parameter.

OPTIONAL PARAMETER WORD No.98

Set M-code number for ATC macro command.
Initial value : 0
Setting range : 0 to 999

5. Error
If the tool indexing command is represented by the following error list, the ordered row is left blank and the error
description appears at lower right of the window.

5-1. Error List

Description of Errors Display Display in Error Column

Common questions

The manual indicates two methods to create a used tool list: one is by selecting a machining program in the automatic operation mode, and the other is by pressing the function key [F1] for creating the used tool list in tool data setting mode .

The CNC system presents an error message indicating 'Some use tool data are out of range' when data is out of specified range. The system identifies missing elements in commands, such as expressions and ATP/AHP in the G171 command, but prevents errors using ATC macro commands M421/M321 .

The system displays setting values of tool offset, nose R compensation, and tool wear offset that can be changed using functions like SET, ADD, and CAL. The screens show various items such as tool number, edge number, tool offset number, spindle mode, turret indexing angle, among others .

The 'INDEX' item indicates turret operations by showing the direction for turret indexing and the indexing command along the M-axis (e.g., M602 for A, M603 for B). It provides essential data for precise positioning during machining .

Optional parameter NO.59 impacts the screen display order by determining whether the 'USED TOOL OFFSET/NOSE R COMPENSATION' and 'USED TOOL WEAR OFFSET' windows appear first in tool data setting mode. Setting this parameter to 'No effect' allows conventional screens to appear first .

The error message 'Used tool are not confirmed' occurs when no program is selected or no used tool list is created .

The ATC macro command serves to execute tool-related orders by reading a cutting program and supports orders without an expression. It supports M-code numbers configured in parameter WORD No.98 for commands M421/M321 that prevent error occurrences .

Different screens are used for different CNC models because they may have unique tool data setting requirements and operational features. This manual provides functions and guidelines adaptable to various setups, enhancing usability across models .

Parameter WORD No.98 allows the configuration of M-code numbers for ATC macro commands. The initial value is set to 0, with a permissible range from 0 to 999, accommodating different macro commands that influence tool selection and placement processes .

Tool offset, nose R compensation, and tool wear offset are critical for accurate machining operations. These settings compensate for tool dimensions, wear, and geometric deviations, ensuring precision and quality in CNC machining processes .
