Strip Unit A – stitch a 2 ¾” medium strip onto each side of a 5” background print along the long edges as
shown below. Press seam allowances toward the darker print. The unit should now measure 9 ½”. Repeat to
make 2 strip units A. Sub-cut into 12 -5” wide by 9 ½” pieces.

Strip Unit B – stitch a 2 ¾” medium strip onto a 7 ¼” background print as shown below. Press seam allowances

Strip Unit C Strip Unit C – Sub-cut to 2 ¾” wide

Take one Unit A and stitch a Unit C onto each side as shown below. Repeat to make 12 blocks.

Take one Unit B and stitch one Unit c onto one side as shown below. Repeat to make 12 blocks.
Iron each of the 6” background blocks in half along the diagonal to form a folded triangle. Place folded triangles onto
two corners of your patchwork blocks as shown below. Match up the raw edges and stay stitch the triangle onto the
block very close to the edge.
Roll the folded edge back toward the corner making a gentle curve. Be sure start and stop the folded, curved section at
least ¼” away from the raw edges so you won’t have extra bulk when stitching the blocks together into your quilt top.
Top stitch the folded edges as shown below (I used dark thread for one of the pictures so you can see it better, but I
used white thread on my quilt).
Lay out the blocks, sashing, cornerstones, and 11” background blocks using the picture below and the picture of the
finished quilt.

Outer border: Stitch the 4 ¾” pieces along their short edges to make one long piece. Stitch onto all 4 sides of
the quilt.
Quilt, bind, and enjoy!
