LET’S HAVE AN ADVENTURE!

I. BICOL REGION: Give the best features of the following tourist spots and include why tourists must
visit the place.

1. BULUSAN LAKE
Lies at the heart of Bulusan Volcano National Park, in the province of Sorsogon. From the entrance,
you can already see how picturesque Lake Bulusan is. You'll surely be in awe of the lake's emerald ish
waters which are surrounded by the lush rainforest of Bulusan Volcano National Park. It is famous for
being surrounded by a lush tropical rainforest thickly endowed with flora and fauna. Its deep green
emerald waters add a mystical sense of tranquility hardly equaled by any body of water we had
previously seen. Here and there, rare, colorful species of startled kingfishers would dart from cover,
zooming over the placid waters before disappearing into the thick green carpet of the surrounding
rainforest. Moreover, bulusan lake is a kayaking spot because of its relaxing atmosphere, fresh air, and
gorgeous views of the lush landscapes and mountains in the distance, it is famous for a must-try
Canopy walk as well.

2. DARAGA CHURCH
Located at Daraga, Albay. Also known as Nuestra Señora de la Porteria Parish is a Churrigueresque
architectural style in its façade. The façade and its walls are made out of volcanic rocks, which are rich
in the area. The current white façade is the result of a coating of lime for protection from deterioration.
Its construction is what makes it more special and unique. More than that, this 18th-century church is
overlooking the sea and the majestic Mayon Volcano too.
3. CARAMOAN
It is renowned for its enchanting flora and fauna, as it is well-endowed with a 4,000-hectare limestone
forest located in Caramoan, Camarines Sur. Together with peaceful waters, tantalizing caves, hidden
coves, and diverse marine life, Caramoan is truly a paradise that you must visit.
4. DONSOL WHALE SHARK INTERACTION CENTER
Located at Donsol, Sorsogon, Region of Bicol. The best thing you can experience here is the sightings
— seeing whale sharks here that measure anywhere from 18 inches to 10-14 meters in length. Yes, it
is known primarily for whale watching. Here tourists can interact with whale sharks (butanding in local
parlance) by snorkeling, diving, or simply waiting for them in areas where they come right up to the
surface.

5. MAYON VOLCANO
Dominating the city of Legaspi, in Albay. It is the world's most perfect volcanic cone because of the
symmetry of its shape. Visiting Bicol, particularly Albay where you can have a majestic 360 view of it
wherever you go. Not only can you marvel at its beauty, but you can go trekking on its slopes.
Moreover, it is also known for its Natural Park, Ecological Tour, Hiking, camping, and ATV Riding.
6. PAGURIRAN ISLAND AND LAGOON
Located in Brgy. Sawangga in the town of Bacon, Paguriran Island, in Sorsogon. The lagoon and island
will bring you a very relaxing view, clear waters, a sand bar, affordable cottages, and an entrance fee.
The sand is powdery white, where children will surely love to play and go because of its attractiveness
and cool waves during low tide. It is also famous for its collective formation of craggy rocks shaped like

a volcano’s crater. Nestled in the formation is a lagoon with clear blue waters. You can also hike up the
islet for an amazing view of Paguriran and Bacon’s shoreline.

II. WESTERN VISAYAS: Give the best features of the following tourist spots and include why tourists
must visit the place. Specify the province where it is located.

1. MOUNT LUHO
Located on Boracay Island, Aklan. Mt. Luho is the tallest peak on Boracay Island. Located in Aklan, its
viewing deck offers panoramic views of the province and the white sand shores lining it. This small
mountain is famous for providing the best vantage point of the island's views, including the surrounding
blue ocean and white sand which makes it an attractive destination for those who love to stand on the
top of the mount and admire the marvelous sightseeing under their feet.
2. TWIN LAKES NATIONAL PARK
The twin crater lakes known as Balinsasayao and Danao are the prominent features within the national
park located on the western side of Mount Guintabon, which is formed from a volcanic eruption some
10,000 years ago and the 90 meter deep craters over time have filled up with water from rain and
stream deposits, resulting in the two lakes, separated by a narrow mountain ridge. Aside from that, the
reason why it is a must-visit tourist spot is because of its hundreds of species of forest trees, fruit-
bearing, and flower plants dominating the vegetation around the lakes. On top of this, it is a famed spot
for bird-watching enthusiasts, playing home to many different species of bird, the most popular being
the Flaming Sunbird. The park is located in the Mount Talinis range, also known as Cuernos de
Negros, in Negros Oriental.
3. WHITE BEACH
Situated in the province of Aklan, White Beach is the heart of Boracay. It boasts a stunning 2.5-mile (4-
kilometer) long strip of soft sand backed by a busy tourist village. Known for being one of the most
beautiful beaches in the world, there's something about its natural beauty – its crystal blue water, its
pure white sand, and its magical sunsets. On top of that, you can also spend your time swimming in the
warm, clear water, topping up your tan, partaking in watersports, and partying at bars and open-air
clubs in Boracay. White Beach is one of the best beaches in the Philippines and has always been the
star of the show on the Island.
4. BULABOG PUTI-AN NATIONAL PARK
Situated in the municipality of Dingle on the island of Panay, this mountain has its most distinguishing
feature, a white stone wall on the north side that is visible from as far away as Passi. The park also
contains 13 caves, the most prominent of which are the Maestranza Cave, Guiso Cave, and Lapuz
Lapuz Cave. On top of being known for its forest caves, one of these is the Lungib cave which served
as the armory of the Battle Cry of Panay. Phosphate rock deposits are found in the caves of the
mountain. As an old-growth forest, it shelters a wide diversity of flora and fauna which are mesmerizing,
and will surely mesmerize you as well.
5. MOUNT GUITING-GUITING
Located at the heart of Sibuyan Island in Palawan, dubbed by some local and international natural
scientists as the “Galapagos of Asia,” Mt. Guiting Guiting boasts of its thick and old growth vegetation
and forests. Mt. Guiting Guiting is notable for its rocky ridges -- three of the few are the “Knife Ridge,”
“Kiss the Wall,” and the “Peak of Deception.” The rocky ridges are all steep and jagged and sharp. You
should be very careful about where to step and where to hold on to the rocks. However, only
mountaineers with enough stamina are advised to try the challenge that it holds.
6. SAGAY MARINE RESERVE
This protected area is located in Sagay, Negros Occidental. Is known for being blessed with a highly
diverse and productive marine ecosystem such as coral reefs, mangroves, and seagrass beds. Above
the water, it appears to be an ordinary strip of sand, a giant, tongue-shaped, white sandbar, but down
below, it is a world of a wide variety of marine species. Surrounding this sandbar is crystalline, shallow,
turquoise water that adds charm to the place and attracts many eco-loving tourists, and it'll surely
attract you too.
7. BAKHAWAN ECOPARK
This 220 hectares (540 acres) mangrove forest located in Kalibo, Aklan, Philippines is known for its
centerpiece which is a 1.3 kilometers (0.81 mi) bamboo trail that takes visitors deep into the mangrove
forest. Visiting it will surely amaze your nature-loving self because it is an ideal destination for

ecotourism, it is home to different species of mangrove trees and it serves as a sanctuary for various
types of birds and marine species.
8. BUGTONG BATO FALLS
Situated in Barangay Tuno, Tibiao, Antique. It is a favorite place for a relaxing dip. Locals go there for
picnics and swimming, while those adventurous ones enjoy trekking up the sides of the falls' wall and
jumping off to the natural pool formed by its cascading waters. On top of that, its waters flow directly to
Tibiao River, providing rapids that are best for white water kayaking which is a must-try for tourists.

III. CENTRAL VISAYAS: Give the best features of the following tourist spots and include why tourists
must visit the place. Specify the province where it is located.

1. TUMALOG FALLS
Located on Cebu Island is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Philippines. The turquoise waters
of the falls aren’t quite as vibrant as at Kawasan falls, but the sheer size of the waterfall makes it an
incredible place to visit. More than that, it is unique, featuring a curtain of water falling down the face of
a monolithic limestone cliff. There is a large swimming area at the base of the falls where you can take
a dip to cool off. The color of the water in the basin is that classic milky blue tinge that this fall is famous

2. KAWASAN FALLS
It is located inside the mountains of Barangay Matutinao, Badian. Known for its three waterfall levels, all
of which feature natural pools where visitors can swim and relax. The water from the top of it comes
from the Kandayvic Spring. Moreover, Kawasan is not only picturesque, but it is also an excellent place
to swim in. Visitors often praise the water as cold and refreshing. Trying canyoneering must be one of
your to-do lists if you're looking for more fun
3. HINAGDANAN CAVE
Hinagdanan meaning “Laddered” in Cebuano, is one of the many wondrous caves in the island
province of Bohol. It is known for its 100 M wide grotto with large limestone rock formations that have
several large stalagmites and stalactites that cast impressive shadows when lit from the holes above.
Although the entrance to the cave is very narrow and short, it won't take long before the cave opens up
to reveal a large cavern that will surely amaze you.

4. FORT SAN PEDRO


It is located in the area now called Plaza Independencia, in the pier area of Cebu city. This is known for
being the oldest and the smallest fort in the Philippines, which is triangular and has two sides facing the
sea and the third side facing the land. The sides facing the sea were safeguarded with cannon and the
front with a strong fence made with wood. Inside this fort are several preserved Spanish artifacts, such
as paintings, sculptures, old photographs and items, and documents that are a must-see, especially if
you're interested in the history.
5. MAGELLAN’S CROSS
Situated on Plaza Sugbo beside the Basilica del Santo Niño, in Cebu City. It is known for the cross
itself, a huge wooden Christian cross that marks the arrival of Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan
on the island of Sugbu (now Cebu) roughly 500 years ago, the first Europeans to come to the
Philippines, on a mission to search for the spice islands of Molucca for the King of Spain which greatly
contribute to the Philippines history. And yes, it is a must-visit for its rich historical relevance.
6. BASDAKU WHITE BEACH
Situated in Saavedra in Moalboal, Cebu. Basdaku is not only a white sand beach but, of course, it has
turquoise blue crystal clear and pristine seawater. It is famous for being made up of coralline deposits.
In other words, it is made up of corals that have been elevated to their present level where plants and
animals (including us) can survive after millions of years of its ongoing creation (or evolution). The
beach is also visitor-friendly, for it is much available to the public and great for most activities allowed
by the management that watches over and maintains its natural environment.
