January 13, 2010 Dear Admissions Committee, Kristen Lee is an accomplished student, and I enthusiastically endorse her desire to transfer to your institution in order to complete her undergraduate studies. She will significantly contribute to the academic life on your campus and to the many student activities that you sponsor. Kristen is a very accomplished student. She is a member of our Honors Program, and she is consistently listed on the Dean's list of our most successful students. She is a Communication Studies major, and she is known by all with whom she works as a person who has excellent presentational and interpersonal communication skills. She is bilingual fluently speaking both English and Cantonese. Her college transcript is populated by mostly A's and B's in her academic courses, and according to her professors, Kristen is a delight to have in class. She is inquisitive, and she will invest the amount of time and energy necessary to comprehend course material. She writes well, and she has well developed critical thinking skills. She fully participates in class discussions, and she asks informed questions. Kristen also realizes that it is necessary to develop life long learning skills, so she reads beyond the required texts and she interacts with fellow students who share her belief system as well as with students who have an entirely different belief system. She is interested in knowing about the world from as many different perspectives as possible. Kristen is also willing to change her point of view when confronted with evidence that supports such a change. We are fortunate to have a nationally recognized college newspaper on our campus: the Mountaineer. Kristen !las made significant contributions to the paper since she became involved in 2008. She has written several press releases, and she has made several public presentations at campus events regarding the Mountaineer. She has also managed several projects and activities sponsored by the Mountaineer, and she has contributed a lot of time and ideas to the creation of the online version of the school newspaper. Her colleagues and faculty advisor at the Mountaineer find her contributions to the paper to be significant. I am sure she will continue her interest in journalism when she becomes a student at your school. Kristen is also a delightful young lady who believes in collaboration and cooperation in her interactions with faculty and students and never assumes the role of an obstructionist. She will make a fine addition to your campus community. Sincerely,

January 14,2010 To Whom It May Concern: I am pleased to recommend Kristen Lee for admission to the undergraduate program at your university. As her manager at NBC/Universal during the Fall Semester of 2009, I have witnessed many examples of her considerable talent. Kristen has truly impressed me with her hard work, diligence and positive attitude. Kristen is not only smart, but she has a great attitude when she comes to work. She is dedicated to her tasks, and has always given her best in every project she has been assigned to. She has also showed me that she is capable of handling multiple projects at once with favorable results despite deadline pressure. Kristen is also an active team player, working alongside her colleagues in a professional manner. I also want to point out that Kristen has started the internship a month in advance, in which after those weeks of watching her succeed in the assignments I have given her, advanced her to be leader and my personal assistant. We here at NBC/Universal think so much of her that we have invited her to return for another semester. Kristen has excelled to be our senior and most respected intern. If I had the decision to present Kristen with a paid internship I would do so with no hesitation. Despite all the preparation that will be required for going off to college, Kristen has expressed to me that she is absolutely thrilled ane! prepared about this opportunity and feels it will enhance her current and future educational goals. In closing, it is clear to me as I hope it is to you, that this potential student, Kristen Lee is an exceptional candidate, one that would contribute greatly to any program. I wholeheartedly recommend her and wish her the very best in all future endeavors.

To the Admissions Committee of USC,

Please accept my hearty endorsement of Kristen Lee for admission to your college. She is an exceptional and dedicated student who deserves to attend your college.

As a writer for our student newspaper, The Mountaineer, Kristen has shown superior
writing and editing skills. Kristen also serves as a student publicist for the Mt. SAC journalism program. She is very creative and has contributed to the growth of the journalism program by offering her ideas and suggestions for promoting the program and student media. She accompanied me along with several students on the public relations team to the Journalism Association of Community Colleges Convention in Sacramento. Kristen presented a session on recruiting to a large group of students and faculty. She was very creative in her ideas and really hit the mark on recruiting and outreach. She also helped put together a plan for high school outreach that included surveying high school students and visiting the local high schools, and she has helped market our student magazine through her creative ideas. Kristen spent last semester interning at NBC Universal. I was responsible for running her internship and was very impressed by the response she received from her bosses. She received high marks for her organizational skills and her professionalism and was asked to come back and complete a second internship in a different department. Kristen is respected by her peers, faculty and administration and she motivates our staff by acting as a role model. She is always professional and demonstrates leadership qualities through the many activities she is involved in on and off campus and through her high standard of academics. She has competed at journalism conferences throughout the state and represents our program with pride and enthusiasm. It's been said that there are no sure things in life, but if you admit Kristen to your college, J am sure that that she will be a student who makes USC proud.
