CHILD DEDICATION CEREMONY
Song : Jesus loves the little children
Minister : Jesus commands, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them; for such
belongs the kingdom of heaven.” – (Mt. 19:14). Parents, using the words of Jesus respond, “And for their sake,
I consecrate myself, that thy also may be consecrated in truth.” – Jn. 17:19.
Scripture Reading : Mark 10: 13 – 16.
Minister to Congregation : You who are gathered today in worship are privileged to witness the coming of
these parents to dedicate their child to the tender care and keeping of God our Father and to the love of the Lord
Jesus Christ our Savior. In so doing, we also rededicated themselves to the maintenance of the Christian Home
where Christ shall be honoured and the Word of god held in reverence.
Minister to Parent : And you parent who come to bring your child as is fitting, to the house of the Lord to
offer him before God in a service of worship we pray with you that God’s riches blessings rest on you also as in
all humility and singleness of heart, you seek to train and educate him so that he will grow in favour with God
and man.
Minister to Sponsor : Dear sponsors, you are considered second parents to this child. You have a great
responsibility to be a good example to the child in your speech, in your life, in your faith, in love, and in purity.
Charles & Kate hold you in high esteem. They see in you and your family relationships a model of what they
wish a family Charlene Kianne would grow up in. Will you continue to merit that esteem as you continue to
watch over him with your concern and love?

Minister to Parents : Having thus proposed in your hearts, do you in the presence of these witnesses
solemnly promise to strive, by precept and example, and using the many agencies of the church to train your
child in love toward God, His family and others in the Spirit of Jesus Christ our Lord?

Minister : Having heard these vows in sacred assurances, as a minister of Christ, I joyously and
fervently pray to God, that your child be commended to the keeping of the Almighty, our Heavenly Father.
Your child will not remember this day: therefore, tell him early of the commitment and the prayers made this
day in his behalf.
Minister to child : To you, James Neil, My earnest prayer, as I look at your face, is that when you lose
your innocence and your eyes of understanding are opened, you will see Jesus the Giver of Life. As God’s
minister, I take James Neil from you. Now let us now dedicate him to the Lord.
Dedicatory Prayer and Charge to Parents: Now we lend Charlene Kianne back to you, to raise in the fear of
the Lord.
