Installation procedure

1. Unpack the driver zip file to any new folder of your harddisk ( i.e. C:\MyInstall ).

2. Connect the USB COUNTER MODULE via USB cable to the USB Port of your computer.

CHECK SERIAL PORT NUMBER

Control Panel – System – Hardware – Device Manager

The USB Module is named


as „Seriell Communication
Counter“.

This this case at Com9.


CHANGE SERIAL PORT NUMBER

Note: Usually the port number has not to be changed.

Multiple installation of USB Modules may cause, that available serial port numbers
are not automatically detected by the installation procedure.

Control Panel – System – Hardware – Device Manager:

Right click and


open Properties

Open Tab “Connection Settings” and click on “Advanced”:

Select port number:

Finally: Restart the computer !!


CHANGE SERIAL PORT NUMBER by Registry Edit

It is recommended to change the port by device manager, as described above.


Just in case, that the change by device manager fails, go by this procedure:

The following registry changes have to be done by system administrators with


a good knowledge of registry editing. Failures may cause a damage of the
windows system!!

Example to change COM9  COM7.

Be sure that COM7 is not a physical port and not used anymore.

Open registry editor (i.e. enter “Regedit” at the command line).

Open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\SERIALCOM


Change Value: \Device\USBSER... = COM7 (what was COM9 before)

Open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\


Enum\USB\Vid_04d8&&Pid_FCEC\UnknownKey
Change Value: FriendlyName = Seriell Communication Counter (COM7)

Open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\


Enum\USB\Vid_04d8&&Pid_FCEC\UnknownKey\DeviceParameters
Change Value: PortName = COM7 (what was COM9 before)

UnknownKey:
This is key is not known in advance, it depends on the installation and the module

If the editor blocks the editing of values:


Right click on the related key, open “permitions” and allow full access to this key item.

Finally: Restart the computer
