Before I answer, you need to understand that a lot of thought process and empathy
has been taken care of by me in understanding the depth of this question.
Christians celebrate Christmas as the birth of Jesus Christ peace be upon him. This
is the initial feeling. Although it is clear from the historical facts that Jesus
Christ peace be upon him was not born around winter and 25th December is actually
the celebration of the pagan Son God and this pagan traditions have been infused
from the non Christian culture into the Christian culture. The pagan concept of Son
God is infused with the corrupted concept of Son of God within Christianity. This
is the truth that everyone should know. Being irrelevant with the date, the
Christians celebrate Christmas as the Birthday of Jesus Christ peace be upon him
and we Muslim also celebrate Mawlid Un Nabi (The Birthday of Prophet Muhammad peace
be upon) and there is no harm whatsoever in any Birthday celebration. So wishing a
Christian Merry Christmas is no harm, because it's all in the intention. A Muslim
doesn't believe in Jesus being God or Son of God. So our belief system knows this
truth and when we wish we are wishing just not to hurt someone's feelings and
maintain a relationship of coexistence (Lakum Deenukum Wal Ya Deen). I'm not saying
that you should make sure to wish the Christians every year but what I'm saying is
only wish when you know it'll rude to avoid wishing. For example, let's say you
have Christian friends and they wish you on Eid then it becomes a duty on you as a
common man to wish them on Christmas as it might make them feel that Muslims are
self centered and arrogant as we respect their religion but they don't respect us.
So in order to avoid these feelings from arising, one should wish and there's no
harm because deeds are always judged in Islam based on the intentions behind them.
And if you're knowledgeable enough about comparative religion then Christmas can
also be viewed as an opportunity of actually sharing the facts about Christmas and
the Real Role of Jesus Christ peace be upon him. But this is only when you know
about differences in our religion and theirs. You can only teach about religion
when you know about both the sides of the coin very well.

It's forbidden for Muslims to celebrate Christmas and participate in Christmas
parties and proceedings.
It's forbidden for Muslims to say Merry Christmas for zillions of reasons.
Committing any of the above sins may very well amount to infidelity and you may not
remain a Muslim anymore.
You may only utter the words Merry Christmas if there is a possibility that
Christians will hate you for not saying it.

No reason that I can think of. I would understand that Jesus is not of any
religious significance to Buddhists or Hindus, etc. But muslims? Jesus is a prophet
to muslims as well and Mary is of such high significance that whereas no names of
women are explicitly given in the Quran, Mary has a whole chapter devoted to her
name. So it is very appropriate for muslims to say “merry christmas” to each other.
Leaving religious reasons aside, it would be very polite to wish a merry Christmas
to Christians, whether they are devout Christians or have no faith. After all, it

As wrong as it is for Christians to wish Muslims a happy Eid. There’s no hostility
between religions. Muslims consider Jesus a messenger of God as much as Abraham and
Moses, so if Christmas is the way Christians choose to celebrate their prophet,
then so be it.
I’d imagine the same rules would apply if the Christmas greeting was “mazal tov”.
It’s not normal to be offended by holiday greetings.

According to Shaykh Abdullah bin Bayyah who is considered the “scholar’s scholar”,
and who has a (one of many) specialization in the area of “Muslims who live in non
Muslim majority lands”, it is NOT forbidden to give greetings to Christians
including “Merry Christmas”.
It is forbidden to celebrate Christmas and other non Muslim religious holidays.
I wish Christians a “Merry Christmas”. But I do not participate in Christmas
activities.

I should ask all my muslim who wished me “Merry Christmas’s eve “ , “ Merry
Christmas “ , “ A serene and wonderful Christmas to me and my family “ about that .
I hope they are not in troble because of that. Oh , I hope all my buddhist friends
who wished me “Merry Christmas “ are not in troble as well !
Seriously , Even some scholars say that wishing merry christmas is one of the best
ways people can fight the terrorists. Don’t get paranoid ! Jesus was and is an
important figure for both Christians and Muslims after all.

First of all not all Muslims do that . the only extremists who do this.
And the answer is because they are pretty extreme and vulgar , their rudeness
against mankind makes them always hate people of different cultures and different
religion.
They are so close to themselves , they only hear from themselves as they are a so
small circle , they are very rude to say “ Merry Christmas “ … and actually they
are the true followers of Islam that they are obeying each command more than the
normal Muslims.
At the end , the answer is their religion is quite clear against other religions.
Allah (SWT) said in the Qur’an :
Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and
do not expel you from your homes - from being righteous toward them and acting
justly toward them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly. (Quran 60:8)
Greeting non-Muslims in their special occasions and celebrations isn’t haram if
done with the intention of spreading peace, love and tightening the relationship
between the Muslims and non-Muslims as how Allah (SWT) asked us to do, but not with
the intention of celebrating what they are celebrating like celebrating Christmas
with the Christians or celebrating Sabbath with the Jews.
Allah (SWT) is the most merciful and he loves peace to be spread throughout the
world so when we do something that spreads peace and love in between the people
especially between two groups that have had and still have many problems with each
other is something rewardable not punishable like how some extremists and fitnah-
spreaders like to show.
I, myself greet my Christian non-Muslim colleagues and class mates whenever a
celebration of theirs comes and i do it a lot since the Christians in Egypt have
additional celebrations and religious events that are not celebrated in the western
society, and they do the same thing to me too, it makes both of us happy and
increases the love and the friendship between us which is a live example of its
effect.
