How to Patch NDS ROMs for Pokémon

To patch a Nintendo DS ROM, you need the base ROM file, a .xdelta patch file, and a delta patching tool. Open the patching tool and select the base ROM in the original file section and the .xdelta patch in the patch section. Click apply patch and if successful, the ROM will be patched and ready to play with the ROM hack modifications.

How to patch a NDS ROM

Knowing how to patch Nintendo DS ROMs is an essential step to play ROM hacks. Uploading
the whole ROM files is illegal and that is why patches are used instead.

You will need:

1. The base ROM: 3541 – Pokémon Platinum Version (US)(XenoPhobia)


2. The .xdelta patch (included in the downloaded zip)
3. Delta Patcher tool (included in the downloaded zip)

Open Delta Patcher, you will see something like this:

In the Original file section, search for your Pokémon Platinum ROM (whose file type has to be
.nds), and in the XDelta patch section, select the .xdelta file included in the zip. It is important
to be sure that the Pokémon Platinum dump is a 3541 version (4997 or 4998 won’t work with
this patch!).

Click the Apply patch button, and if everything goes fine, you should have your ROM patched
and ready to be played!
