1. What is the relationship of Literature to language learning?
Literature and language are intertwined. Literature can influence the language
and the other way around. Literature is a written work that expresses human feelings,
culture, etc. While language is a medium for thinking as well as a means for
communicating. They are intertwined because literature is essentially expressed by
language. It allows all of the author's and poet's feelings and ideas to travel across the
globe. These ideas are conveyed to the rest of the people by the use of language.
2. What positive aspect of learning is provided by the use of literature in language
learning?
It builds on the language, experiences, knowledge and interests that students
bring to school and nurtures students’ sense of their common ground in using
languages for communication as present or future global citizens to prepare them to
participate in school and in civic life.
3. How is literature used in language learning or acquisition?
In using literature in language learning, the teacher should always be guided with
the teaching language principles. Like for example. By using he spiral progression
approach -- to introduce students to a wide range of ideas, themes, and subjects before
they master them. They will learn it by learning it repeatedly, but with varying degrees of
difficulty.
4. What is effective language use?
The effective language use is the appropriate use of language depending on the
cultural differences, individual’s understanding of the language and also considering the
process and strategies of the learners.
