All pushing work is to be carried out remotely, using the excavator
operated by a suitably qualified and experienced operator.
Specific Permit to work to be issued to include all activities
included within this method statement.
The columns will be safely felled using an excavator applying a
turning force from the rear.
This is the preferred option as no operatives are put at height and
the inherent dangers in the fitting of the pulling ropes are
eliminated.
The access is to be unhindered and free to allow unrestricted
movement of the excavator, ensuring that the position of the
applied force is 180 degrees to the direction of the fall line.
The base of the vessel skirt will be prepared in accordance with
the details within this document.
The number of bolts to be removed will be in accordance with the
details within this document.

phase of the demolition is complete.
Access into the exclusion area will be prohibited to prevent access
by personnel during all preparation and pushing operations.

boreholes.
Sufficient rubble mounding and road plating is to be prepared and
will be available for placement to prevent damage to any
underground services and existing grade level and to cushion the
fall of the column, within the landing zone. This will also negate
any vibration to services within the demolition area.
Rubble will be placed within the direction of the felling.
Felling will not commence if wind speed greater than 11m/s. Wind
readings taken prior to works commencing.
A level and unhindered area must be present around the column
base, which will allow safe access and egress to the columns by
the burning operatives.

The area in which the column is to be felled will be cleared to
reduce the possibility of debris projection and create a suitable
area which to site the pushing machine.

details within this document.
The three front bolts in the line of fall will remain to provide
directional control.
All other bolting will be removed working around the base to the
rear, using hot cutting equipment.
Upon completion of hot cutting the bolts, all equipment and
personnel involved in this task will be removed from the area.
Following bolt removal, the excavator will position the shear to
provide a two point contact with the wall of the vessel.
CLASSIFICATION: C0 - NON-CONFIDENTIAL
At this point the Site Supervisor will give the go ahead to continue
via two way radio.
A progressive force will be applied to the column at the pre-
calculated height, with the excavator standing off at its maximum
reach.
Once the force has been applied, it must not be removed until the
column centre of gravity allows the column to fall unaided.
At this point the excavator will slew away and clear the column
base.
AT NO TIME WILL THE MACHINE BE UNDER THE FALL AREA OF
