during the first Industrial
Revolution to decrease the amount
of manual sewing work performed
in clothing companies. Since the
invention of the first working
sewing machine, generally
considered to have been the work
of Englishman Thomas Saint in
1790.

Today, we are going to learn
about the different types of
sewing machine. There are 7
types of sewing machine. Kindly
read the first one Mr. Danseal.

point presentation) 1. Lockstitch Sewing Machine. This is
usually used in homes and sometimes in
school. This is also called “Domestic
 Sewing Machine”. It is run by foot and
may also be converted to electric

Just as in a chain-stitch machine,

the needle pulls a loop of thread
through the fabric, rises again as
the feed dogs move the fabric
along, and then pushes another
loop in. But instead of joining the
different loops together, the
stitching mechanism joins them to
another length of thread that
unspools from the bobbin.

companies call it “small machine”. It
finishes the raw edges of the pattern for
construction.

This is an over lock is a kind of stitch

that sews over the edge of one or two
pieces of cloth for edging, hemming,
or seaming. Usually an over lock
sewing machine will cut the edges of
the cloth as they are fed through (such
machines being called sergers in North
America), though some are made
without cutters.

you use instead of serger or if you

Yes. You can use zig-zag stitch, zig

zag stitch is commonly used seam
finish, particularly for thick or bulky
fabrics. If you have no serger you can
often quickly sew seam finished with a
zigzag.

Another kind of sewing machine is 4. Embroidery Machine. This is used in

Embroidery Machine making fancy stitches and in making
different kinds of embroidery stitches on
 fabrics for the Barong Tagalog, pillow
cases, linen, and other novelty items.

This is an embroidery machine class.

Machine embroidery is an embroidery
process whereby a sewing machine or
embroidery machine is used to create
patterns on textiles. It is used
commercially in product branding,
corporate advertising, and uniform
adornment. It is also used in the fashion
industry to decorate garments and
apparel.

Now, the next type of sewing 6. Button Attachment Machine. This is

machine is.. used in attaching buttons to the
garments. Button sewing machine is a
special type of machine which is used in
apparel industries to attach button so it is
called button attaching machine.

In garment sewing, button attaching

machines is used because huge amount
of apparel is made here. Attaching or
sewing button by hand is time
consuming. That’s why button
attaching machine is used in garment
industry.
A button attacking machine is used to
sew the button in the garment without
damaging it.

or garment industry used button

Good. Because this are big companies,

meaning they hold a big clothing line.
If you sew button by hand it is time
consuming, that’s why they used
button attaching machines because it
save a lot of time.

Now let’s proceed 7. Bartacking Machine. This is used in

reinforcing the opening and closing of
pockets.

This is a bartacking machine class.

Bartacking is a type of reinforcement
stitching that is done using a Bartack
machine. The Bartack sewing
machine stitch is a tight zigzag
pattern repeated perpendicularly over
itself several times to make sewn
products stronger, and resistant to
tears or rips in the seams.

That are the different types of sewing

machine class. That is very useful to
make our work done finest and
accurate and make our work easy and
make us productively the rice is quiet
expensive but as a dress maker it is
valuable to have one of this.
