Energy Manipulation Guide: Sensing Energy

Hello lovely followers! Recently I’ve gotten an influx of questions about energy manipulation and
decided to get around and do a manual about it. Disclaimer, these are all based on my experiences!

What is energy manipulation and why is it so important:

Energy manipulation is just what it sounds like. The manipulation of energy both in you and around you.
It’s important because it is a fundamental key in the practice of magic. At its core, magic is energy. It
becomes magic when it is manipulated by the castor, witch, or practitioners to do their bidding.

The first part in this guide will deal with sensing energy. We won’t necessarily be manipulating it today.
Sensing energy is perhaps the first step of actually working with energy, as you must sense it to be able
to manipulate it. Here, i’ll be going through several different techniques.

First and foremost, I want to go through a general technique that can be used for both meditations and
centering yourself.

Deep Breathing:
This is simply a technique that combines both meditation and moving the energy around in your body.
In my experience, I am drawing from both energy from the universe, and bringing it into my body, while
also expelling negative energy within me.

This is a simple way to get your energies moving while also cleansing yourself of negative energy.

You will need to either sit up or lay down. let your palms lay upward, and close your eyes.

Now, all you have to do is breathe.

As you inhale deeply, envision pure, golden light from the universe coming into your body. This is pure,
cleansing energy, Energy that will help and cleanse you. Feel it going in through your nose, down your
throat and into your lungs. Feel the warmth.

On your exhale, envision dark energy leaving your body. This is negative energy, the energy that is
weighing you down. These are your anxieties, stresses, and insecurities. Give them to the universe, and
let the universe cleanse you.

Focus on breathing in the energy, and breathing it out. Focus on your breathing. Occasionally you’ll have
other thoughts, but that’s fine. Just gradually return to your breathing.
The Hand Technique:
This technique will be good for those of us who are good at visualization. For beginners, i recommend
you get into your deep breathing state. You don’t have to be in a deep meditative state, simply calm
your mind, and prepare to focus on something.

Step one: Sit down. If you have back trouble, then you can also do this laying down. All it requires is that
your palms are upright.

Step two: Hold your hand out forward, palm facing upward. If you have trouble supporting your arm for
long periods of time like i do, simply let your elbow rest on your knee, the arm of your chair, etc. Allow
your arm to be supported.

Step three: Look at your arm. Really look at it. Find a focal point that you’ll allow your energy can stem
from. When you find this place, I want you to imagine a stream of energy flowing from this focal point
into your palm. Envision it like water dripping down your arms, and pooling into your palm.

After a while of doing this, you should either feel tingling, pressure, or warmth. Keep in mind, these are
things that I felt, but usually, you can take any abnormal situation as a sign of energy being felt and
moved.

The Crystal Technique:

This technique is especially good for those of us who have trouble visualizing things. You will be using
aid in order to do this technique, and while I suggest a gemstone, any living thing will suffice.

Find a gemstone of your choice. My go-to for high energy is typically smoky quartz and amethyst. After
you have centered yourself (use the deep breathing technique), place the gemstone in your palm, and
begin applying the deep breathing technique again. In this instance, you won’t have to visualize, just
breath and feel the crystal in your hand. Be aware of its presence.

For some, you will begin to feel a tingling right away, or a warmth. The gemstone will typically give off its
vibrations.

If you’re having trouble feeling this, I would consider rubbing your hands together. This sounds funny,
but it will get the energy in your hands working.

*Typically, when I do this, I envision a swirl underneath the gemstone, like a whirlpool, and allow my
energy to interact with the gemstones energy.

*make sure the gemstone is cleansed, especially if it is clear quartz. I’ve done this technique before with
one that wasn’t, and my arm was in pain for an hour.

And that’s the basics of sensing energy, or how it was for me! Please share this around, and feel free to
ask any questions if you have them. Next time I’ll be posting ways to actually manipulate energy.

______
all about auras
An aura could best be described as the energy given off by someone or something. Supposedly,
everything has an aura, even an apple. Many people are able to either see or ‘sense’ auras, which may
appear as a haze of light or colour surrounding something.

The colour an aura appears can have many correspondences, which can relate to someone’s mood or
spirituality, or can be because of external factors such as light intensity. It’s even said to be possible to
tell if someone is pregnant from the way their aura appears.

Common misconceptions about auras:

 It is always the same colour.    - This is untrue, as auras tend to change colour when affected by
many different factors. However one colour may be dominant.

 It is always the same shape and texture.  - Nope, they could appear hazy, smooth, or spiky. Some
could have auras spanning an inch from their bodies, but others could have auras reaching out
to a metre.

 There is scientific evidence for auras.   - Again, untrue. Despite many people being able to see
auras, there is no way to measure them or comprehend why it is even there.

 Your aura is a shield.  - Whilst it’s possible to utilise your energy to shield yourself from things
through visualisation, your aura alone is by no means a barrier against spirits and vampire-like
entities looking to ‘feed off’ your energy. Learn how to ward yourself.

 There is only one colour at a time.   - Your visible aura can actually be a mix of colours. However,
there are also seven different extents of your aura, ranging from physical to spiritual, which
could all be a different colour at one time.

 It is especially important to note that auras are constantly changing. This could be seen
as Anicca, or impermanence, in which the Buddha taught that nothing is permanent and
everything is constantly changing. The aura reflects this truth in ourselves and those around us.

Seeing Your Aura

Some people are able to see auras with ease without a whole lot of practice, whereas others might
never be able to comprehend the aura. It is common for many witches to practice with seeing their
aura.

Here is a simple exercise which will help you to begin seeing your aura. This is what I tend to get people
to do often when starting with auras. If inexperienced, it is important to practice often in order to get
better!

1. You may want to begin by meditating or casting a circle in order to have a better focus on your
aura. Make sure you are calm and in the mindset to concentrate.

2. Find a blank area, such as a white wall or a sheet of paper, and hold your hand out to it. It is
important that you don’t get distracted by the colour of the wall or anything on it.
3. Rather than focusing directly onto your hand, shift your gaze to look just past it. For instance
just past your fingers, but not the space directly between your fingers.

4. Focus on this space. To avoid distracting yourself, practice steady breathing as you would in
meditation.

5. Eventually, you should begin to see a haze of light surrounding your hand. At first it may appear
small and even colourless, but keep practicing and you will start to see it even better.

Colour Correspondences
The colour of an aura can have many connotations, and can be dictated by thr shape and texture too.
But here is a guide to help you with the typical deciption of simple aura colours.

RED -

Centred/grounded, passion, anger, energetic.

ORANGE -

Power, confidence, outgoing, good health.

YELLOW -

Spiritual awakening/awareness, playful, happiness.

GREEN -

Healing, good communication, jealousy.

BLUE -

Intuition, calm, clairvoyance, honesty, fear of the future.

PURPLE -

Daydreaming, spirituality, artistic, psychic abilities.

WHITE -

Newness, purity, reaching enlightenment, angelic.

BLACK -

Negative feelings, blocked energy, potential illness.

BROWN -

Grounded, tied to the outdoors, afraid to let go.

PINK -

Loving, sensual, psychic gifts, dishonesty.

SILVER -

Physical and spiritual wealth, awakening of higher thought.

GOLD -

Enlightenment, protection from divine entities, guidance.

RAINBOW -

A rainbow aura can indicate a healer, a new soul, or reaching enlightenment.

Energy Work: Energy breathing

Energy breathing is an energy working technique that is used to bring energy into your body, and expel
negative energy from the inside. This breathing technique can also be used in order to focus your mind,
while you go through the process of also allowing your energetic flow to be strengthened, and cleansed
throughout your body.  This technique is very simple, and can be done anywhere at anytime and can be
combined with the practices of centering, and grounding.

1) Begin this practice by sitting, standing or laying in a relaxing position, then proceed to close your eyes.

2) Visualize the energy flowing throughout the inside of your body as a blue mist.

3) Now begin deep breathing, Inhale through your nose, and exhale through your mouth. As you do this
visualize breathing in more bright blue mist on your inhale, and on exhale blowing out black dark smoke.
On inhale you are going to want to breathe in fully expanding all parts of the lungs, and on exhale you
are also going to want to empty your lungs as much as you can. With every breath visualize your energy
as blue mist moving throughout your body.

4) Continue to do this for an extended period of time while visualizing this imagery as clearly as you can
in your mind.

______

Energy Work
I am an energy witch! Energy work is one of the best ways to do easy, inexpensive, and on the go magic!
With practice, one can produce the same results with energy magic as with spells. But how does one
start?

🔮Meditation. This is very important! Choose a set time each day, and a method of meditation, and try
to get in tune with your energy. Even 5 minutes is good.
🔮Try to sense the energy around you. Go with your instinct. Feels high energy? Or maybe low? Just
practice this.
🔮Try an energy spell, such as a psi ball exercise. Simple is best to start with.
🔮Visualize! Daydream, actively visualize, or work on what I like to call your “mind palace” (Sherlock fans
know what I’m talking about 😆)
🔮Try to “see” energy though visualization. What color is it? What shape? Can you move it? Just play
with it.
🔮Work on raising energy, use music, exercise, meditation, hanging out with friends, drawing, hobbies,
basically whatever makes you happy and energized. Everyone will have different ways of doing it.
🔮Again, meditation! It doesn’t need to be long, one can even sit for 2 minutes, feel their energy, and be
like “good it’s there”.
🔮Work on being aware of your own energy.

Energy Work Masterpost

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am a stickler for energy work. In my personal experience,
energy work is the single most important thing that a witch can practice. It brings so much to the table,
both in practical everyday matters and in witchy stuff! Here is my complete masterpost of all of the
posts from my energy work series:

Grounding (Energy Work Series Part 1)

Hey there, and welcome to the first installment in my energy work series. In this post, I want to talk
about my personal method of grounding. As I mentioned at the beginning of this series, these posts are
simply detailing my own personal methods, so keep in mind that this method may not be the best for
you. I suggest playing around with energy work and trying different methods to find the best fit for you.
Bonus: I included some ways to ground using elements other than Earth at the bottom of this post :)

What is grounding, Livi?

Grounding does a number of things. Most importantly, it helps you get rid of excess or negative energy.
It can also help you draw in energy from the Earth or other elements and connect with the world. From
a mental perspective, grounding has a, well, *grounding* effect. It’s a great way to get in the mood for
magical workings or get rid of negativity from the day. I personally suggest practicing grounding both
morning and night, but, if your schedule doesn’t allow that, I would at the very least suggest doing it
once a day when your schedule allows. Without further ado, here’s my personal method of grounding:

1) Lay down on your back. Many people prefer to sit or stand, but I find that laying down helps me get in
a more meditative and relaxed state of mind. I also feel like I can take deeper breaths when I lay down
(Maybe that’s just me?)
2) Imagine that you are in a great field of some sorts. The ground beneath you is not a bed or carpet or
wooden floor anymore. Instead, it is grass, or soil, or sand, or whatever feels right for you. Just make
sure that it is outdoors! Feel the wind on your face, and take in the sounds, sights, and smells of the
setting. Turn your focus mainly to the feeling of the ground against your back.

3) Grow roots. Imagine the roots sprouting out of your back and the other parts of your body that are
touching the ground. Feel them sinking into the ground, going as deep as feels comfortable for you. Feel
them pulling and connecting your body to the Earth.

4) Now feel the transfer of energy between your body and the Earth through the roots. You may wish to
imagine dark, negative energy pouring out of your body and into the Earth. Additionally, if you want to
take in some extra energy from the Earth, you can imagine glowing, white or golden energy coming up
the roots into your body.

5) Continue this for as long as feels comfortable, and then sit up slowly, feeling the roots slowly slide out
of the ground. You don’t have to destroy them unless you would like to. Take notice of how you feel
after grounding in contrast to before grounding.

Note: This may feel very *heavy* for some people. Even for people who typically like this method, it
may feel too heavy or suffocating. In this case, here are some methods of grounding using elements
other than Earth:

Water: You are lying on the beach, when it starts to briskly rain. The rain washes away negative and
excess energy, which soaks up into the sand beneath you. If you want to take in elemental water energy,
imagine the rain drops sinking directly into you, filling you with elemental energy.

Air: Instead of roots growing down into the Earth, they grow up into the sky. They can even lift you off
the ground. Excess and negative energy releases into the clouds, and you take in cool, fresh air.

Fire: You are in the middle of the woods, sitting at a camp fire. Imagine your excess and negative energy
leaving your body and going into the fire, burning away. The heat of the fire is absorbed by your body,
filling you with warm, fiery energy.

I hope you found this helpful! If you have any questions, feel free to send them to me in my ask box.
Keep watch for more posts in this series!
Centering (Energy Work Series Part 2)
Guess who’s back with another fUN ENERGY WORK POST??? That’s right! Today I’m gonna talk you
through my own personal method of centering. As always, keep in mind that this is one of many
methods, and my method may not be the best for everyone. Play around with this and try out different
methods as well to see which one is right for you :)

What’s centering anyway, Livi?

Good question mi snamigo (snail amigo. i use snemes too much. send help). Centering is a way of calling
back all those little energy fragments that you’ve left lying around the place. When you’re under
extreme emotion, or you perform magic, little bits of your energy can become detached and hang out in
places. This can make you feel very not-so-great. Centering helps reattach all your little energy babies
and help you feel whole again. If you don’t have any energy fragments lying around the place, it can
simply help your energy get all nice and snuggly and ready for magical workings. Without further ado,
let’s get started!

1) Lay down or sit up cross legged. I prefer to ground before centering, but that’s just a matter of
personal preference. Get nice and relaxed and meditative.

2) Find your center. I like to use this term to describe the place where all of your energy *radiates* and
circulates from. Most people like to think of the center of their abdomen or the middle of their forehead
as their “center”. Feel the energy pulsating from it.

3) Now think of your body as a vast galaxy. You can either think of yourself as being a literal galaxy, or
you can imagine the energy around you as being a galaxy with you in the middle of it. Your center is the
sun, and all of the energy around it is planets, stars, meteors, and other spacey stuff all circulating and
orbiting around the center.

4) Notice that some of this spacey stuff is a bit far away. While some of these energetic “planets” and
“stars” are nice and close to the center, others seem to be light years away. Feel the gravity of your
center growing, pulling these far-away fragments closer and closer.

5) The gravity of the center grows even stronger. Now, all of the bits of solar system are happily
circulating close to the center. Everything is where it should be, and your energetic galaxy is at peace.
You are centered. Take note of how you feel in contrast to how you felt before you centered.
6) I personally like to spend a little time just hanging out with my energy galaxy. I find it very relaxing,
meditative, and rewarding. Also, it’s hella cool to just hang out with a bunch of space stuff. You can have
fun with it– imagine what the planets look like in detail and figure out what energetic *vibe* they give
off, shape the energy into constellations, close up all of the black holes that drain your energy. This is a
great way to really get a good sense of what your energy can do and how you can manifest and shape it
into awesome things.

I hope you found this post helpful! If you have any questions, feel free to send them to me in my ask
box. Also, don’t forget that I offer free sigil and tarot reading requests! Keep watch for more posts in this
series :)

Shielding (Energy Work Series Part 3)

Woot woot! Guess what time it is???? THat’s right– it’s time for some more fuN ENERGY WORK WITH
THE SNWITCH!

Today, we’re gonna talk about shielding. In my opinion, this is the most important energy work practice
that you can learn as a witch. One of my number 1 tips for new witchys is start a daily shielding practice
and keep it up forever and ever and ever. If you commit to keeping your energy safe and secure from
the beginning, you’ll have a much easier time when you start doing harder, more energy-intense
witchcraft. Also, if you’re an empath, listen up because this is gonna help you out tons.

What is shielding, Livi?

Shielding is a way of keeping your energy nice and safe. It prevents energetic vampires from draining
energy from you, and it protects your energy from attacks from meany spirits and other nasty stuff. For
empaths, it’s a great way to help protect you from absorbing all of the negative emotions of other
people. Without further ado, here’s a basic method of shielding. Bonus goodies: At the end of this post,
I’ll put in some ideas of more creative shields that you can have fun with :)

1) Sit down or lie down. You could hypothetically stand up to do this, but I tend to close my eyes when I
shield, which can make you get a little wobbly when you’re standing up. Preferably, you should ground
and/or center before shielding.

2) Visualize a white sphere of light surrounding your body. It completely surrounds you from all angles
and directions in a big energetic sphere of glowing light.

3) Feel the light around you *hardening*. It doesn’t necessarily become solid, but it locks into place
around you.
4) Imagine the outside of your shield becoming reflective like a mirror. Know that all negative energy
that comes at you will bounce off the mirror back to its sender.

5) Make sure that your shield completely surrounds you (don’t leave any cracks or peep holes!), and
make sure that it feels solid and secure. No flimsy shields allowed here!

And there you go! That’s a very, very basic method of shielding yourself. Despite its simplicity, it gets the
job done. With practice, it’ll become stronger and more effective. For a lot of people, however, this
shield just doesn’t feel strong enough, or it just doesn’t feel right. For these people, I’ve put together a
small list of ideas for other types of shields. You can construct them the same way, by visualizing them
surrounding you, but they might feel or work in a way that is more comfortable, fun, or satisfying for
you. Here’s some other shield ideas:

- Giant ocean waves swirling around you like you are the center of a hurricane.

-A tornado or big gusts of wand surrounding you and blowing away negative energy

-A sphere of great, big flames to burn away negative energy

-Mountains of solid, impenetrable rock

-A huge tangle of thorns surrounding you, maybe with flowers on the outside!

-Smoke and mist swirling about to hide you from foes

-Different colored spheres of light to represent different intents (blue to keep you calm etc.)

-Big blankets engulfing you like you’re in the worlds comfiest, awesomest blanket fort!

-Anything you can think of! Whatever feels right for you :)

If you have any questions, feel free to send them to me in my ask. Don’t forget that I offer free tarot
readings and sigil requests (See my FAQ)!

Energy Balls and Programming Energy (Energy Work Series Part 4)

Hey snends (snail friends :b ). Hope you are all doing well on this fine full moon! Today I’m continuing
my energy work series by teaching y’all my personal method of making energy balls ANNND
programming energy! This post is going to be a bit longer than the other posts in this series since it’s got
two parts to it. To start off, I just want to note that I personally like to ground and take up energy to use
during this process, just so that I have a more-accessible supply of energy to use. This process, ideally,
shouldn’t feel very draining. If it is draining for you, you should definitely try taking up energy while
grounding before doing this to make sure that you’re not over-exerting yourself. Don’t over-work
yourself when you’re first starting out with energy balls! You don’t want to end up tired and drained and
icky. Without further ado, let’s get started.

What is an energy ball, Livi?

An energy ball is, quite literally, a ball of energy. It’s usually formed between your palms like a little
snowball of energy. Once made, it can be programmed with intent. For example, you can program them
with peace or love, happiness or confidence, even anger (if you’re into that). Here’s my method of
forming an energy ball:

1) Get all nice and ready. Ground and center, if you’re into that. Take some deep breaths and relax. I
prefer to sit down while doing this, but I guess you could stand up or even lay down if you really wanted
to.

2) Rub your palms together. Focus on the feeling of warmth and friction between your two hands. Tense
and relax your forearms. While you’re doing this, imagine energy building up between your hands. You
may wish to imagine light travelling through your arms into your hands.

3) Separate your palms so that they are 3-5 inches a part. Imagine a glowing white light in between
them. You might feel more comfortable visualizing it as electricity or something else, and that’s perfectly
okay too! Move your hands in alternating circle-ish movements while still facing each other, as if you are
molding the energy into a snowball or sphere of some sort.

4) Experiment with moving your hands farther apart and then closer. Feel the ever-so-slight resistance
that the energy forms between your palms. Watch the energy ball expand and then contract as you
move your hands farther apart and then closer.

5) At some point, you will find the distance between your hands that feels *right*. The energy ball will
look and feel comfortable to you. At this point, you may want to will one last “push” of energy into the
ball, further solidifying it so that it won’t fall apart or anything.

6) The energy ball will feel nice and normal. You may want to bring all the energy back inwards, willing it
back in or pushing it into your abdomen with your hands. Practice this a bit until you feel comfy. Once
you feel comfortable with making an energy ball, you’re ready to try programming the energy.

Programming an energy ball:

1) Form the energy ball. Get it secure and comfy.

2) Decide on your intent. I like to think of this as giving the energy ball a certain ‘feeling’ of sorts. Some
ideas include calmness or peace, happiness, love, comfort, confidence etc. Hypothetically, you could
program it with something a bit ‘stronger’ like anger or sadness, but I don’t typically recommend this,
especially not for beginners.

3) Visualize the energy ball becoming a color that you associate with your intent. For example, if I were
programming the energy ball with calmness, I would make it a light blue color, since I associate that with
calmness.

4) Try to ‘feel’ your intent. You may wish to think about something that you makes you feel the intent
and send that memory or idea into the energy ball. For example, if I were programming an energy ball
with comfort, I might think about someone I love hugging me and telling me that it’s going to be okay,
and then I would send that image into the ball, hence programming it with comfort.

5) You can play around to figure out what works for you when programming energy. There are plenty of
different methods that you can try out, or you can create your own!

And there you go! I hope you found this helpful! In the last two posts of this series, we’ll be building on
the concepts used in this post to help with charging objects and sending energy to people. Keep watch
for those posts! If you have any questions, feel free to send me an ask. Thanks for reading

Sending Energy to Objects, aka Charging (Energy Work Series Part 5)

I’m back and FINALLY getting around to posting some more! Today we’re gonna talk about sending
energy to objects. Alternatively, this practice could be called charging objects. This practice will work off
of some of the methods learned in my last energy work post, so if you haven’t read that, you might want
to go check it out here. Without further ado, let’s get started!

What is charging, Livi?

(Pssst– to make this easier on myself, I will refer to sending energy to objects as charging from now on.)
Charging is the process of sending programmed energy to an object, thus filling it with the programmed
energy. This enchants the object with the intent that you programmed into the energy. This technique is
very helpful in lots of spells, especially if the spell involves enchanting a jewelry, stone or crystal etc. I’m
going to list 2 different methods for charging an object here. I use both methods, but you may prefer
one over the other. Many different methods of charging exist, so keep in mind that mine are by no
means one-size-fits-all!
Method 1:

1) Choose the object that you want to charge. If it’s your first time, I’d suggest starting with something
small and somewhat benign. A small stone or quartz crystal will work wonderfully, but you may opt to
use any small object or piece of jewelry.

2) Make an energy ball and program it with your desired intent. The intent that you program into the
energy will be the intent that you fill the object with, so pick something that you would like to give to
the object.

3) With your hands, send the energy ball to the object. You can physically bring your energy ball so that
it surrounds the object and then close your hands around it, thus infusing the energy into the object.
Alternatively, you can keep your hands where they were and simply *will* the energy to the object by
visualizing it moving to the object.

4) The object is charged! Try picking it up and noticing how you feel. See if it gives you a different feeling
now that you’ve charged it. As you practice this more, you might notice that the object’s *vibe*
significantly changes after you charge it.

Method 2:

1) Choose the object that you want to charge. If it’s your first time, I’d suggest starting with something
small and somewhat benign. A small stone or quartz crystal will work wonderfully, but you may opt to
use any small object or piece of jewelry.

2) Choose the intent that you want to fill the object with. If it’s your first time, you may want to pick
something simple and positive like happiness or peace.

3) Imagine the object glowing with light. It can be a simple, white light, or you can make it a color that
you associate with your desired intent. Imagine that the light is energy surrounding the object. The
energy is filling the object with your intent.

4) Continue this visualization until you feel that the charging is complete. Try picking the object up and
noticing how you feel. See if it gives you a different feeling now that you’ve charged it. As you practice
this more, you might notice that the object’s *vibe* significantly changes after you charge it.
I hope you found this helpful! If you have any questions, feel free to send me an ask! Keep watch for the
final post in this series sometime soon :) Thanks for reading

Sending Energy to People (Energy Work Series Part 6)

Hey there, and welcome to the final installment in my energy work series! Today I want to talk a little bit
about sending energy to people. Before we start, I just want to say that this practice could,
hypothetically, be used in harmful or even manipulative ways. I do not necessarily condone the use of
this practice for harm, but I respect that many witches do not have a problem with baneful magic. Just
please make sure to keep yourselves safe while practicing, witchys! Like the last installment of this
series, this post will build off of some basic techniques introduced in this post, so if you haven’t read it,
you might want to go check it out now!

What is sending energy to people, Livi?

It’s exactly what it sounds like! This practice is used to send programmed energy to a person. This has
many uses. Some basic examples are sending energy programmed with confidence to help your friend
before her big oral presentation or sending energy programmed with happiness to help pick up a friend
when they’re down. This is a very versatile practice, and, depending on what you program the energy
with, it can be very very helpful to both you and the person you send the energy to. Here is my personal
method of sending energy to people:

1) Find the person or a representation of the person that you want to send energy to. If the person lives
far away or you can’t directly send energy to them, use a picture of them or some other representation
of them.

2) Make an energy ball and program it with your desired intent.

3) Now visualize the energy ball stretching out into a long tube shape of sorts. Visualize it stretching out
and connecting with the person or the representation of the person.

4) Once the energy is touching the person, visualize it shooting into them like a big lazer beam. It leaves
your hands and completely enters the person, filling them up with the programmed energy.

5) The energy is sent to the person! Try observing them or asking them how they feel to see how well
your energy reached them. As you practice more, the effects may become stronger and stronger.
And there you go! This concludes my energy work series :) If you have any questions, feel free to send
me an ask. Thanks for reading,

Choosing your energies

windvexer:

Introduction to magic masterpost

Information is given on how to work with energies on the Spells page. Here it is more helpful to focus on
what energies you choose to use. In the ‘types of magic’ section of this masterpost you can see my
beliefs that the four elemental energies are very different from one another. I consider the energies of
the universe to be vast and quite useful, and whichever one you choose will magically act a lot like its
source. For example, the sun shines and the moon reflects in a cycle caused by our own perspective.
This makes sun energies excellent for becoming noticed, and moon energies excellent for glamours. If
you really wanted to change your appearance, sturdy earth may be best for you. I will try to make a
short list of energies here and how I would personally use them in spells.

Remember that you can choose more than one energy for your spell; combining all four elements is a
great way to include balance. So it’s not just the energies, but how many and how you choose to
combine them, that matters. But as this is a basic guide, let’s just consider one at a time.

Also, the ingredients you use will provide energies of their own. I don’t have the space here to list the
meaning of every magical ingredient you could use. The next article in this section is about deciding how
to combine the energies you channel, those of your ingredients, and any other powers that may be at
play.

Fire: Transformation, destruction, a lamp that leads the way, warmth, hearth and home

Water: Healing, growth, depth, life

Air: Intelligence, discovering problems, clearing the way, quickness

Earth: Sturdiness, foundations, manifestation, long-term goals, slowness

Storm: Destruction in order to sow new life

Sun: Goodness, vitality, health, youth, beauty, powerful light

Moon: Grace, illusions, cycles, growth, withering

Saturn (planet): Death, boundaries, time, protection

Jupiter (planet): Mercy, success, prosperity, fortune, luck

Mars (planet): War, battle, defense, protection

Venus (planet): Love of all types, creation of new projects, reproduction in every aspect, creating or
healing relationships, damaging or destroying relationships

Mercury (planet): Communication, movement, travel, safety

When you channel an energy, be aware of the powers that come with it. They all have a different part to
play.

Basic Elements of Energy Work

windvexer:

Energy work is the ability of a person to control unseen energies. Almost all basic pagan/Wiccan/New
Age/witchcraft exercises deal with energy work. Here is a short list of some of the things a young witch
should learn.

Grounding. It’s extremely  important. You may think it will be fun to carry around a lot of elemental
energy - you will quickly change your mind. Grounding is the ability to get excess energy out and ground
yourself back in reality. This is especially important if you want to work with dreams, spirits, or visions.

Centering goes hand-in-hand with grounding. As a magical practitioner, you do stuff that leaves your
energetic body out of sorts. If you are working with real magic, there is also a chance your grasp on
reality can be shaken. Centering is a focus on your physical body that gathers all your loose bits and
reforms your energetic body back in to its natural shape. Combine it with grounding to get back to the
real world.

Shielding is a basic energy work exercise that is also pretty danged important. Learn to shield yourself
and how to place shields around other things, people, and locations. This is a vital element of protection.

Charging is the act of filling an object with energy. You can passively charge things by leaving them
around natural elements, but you need to learn how to actively charge something as well.

Programing is the process of giving energy a ‘job’. Programing energy is the basis for all spellwork. When
you dress a candle, you are filling it with energy and then programing that energy to do a job for you.

ENERGY WORK BASICS

@tottallynotawitch replied to your post “Using Fire & Solar Energy To Heal”

Where can I find the basics of energy work?

There’s plenty of resources out there available to you on Tumblr, you need only look. I’m sure there are
plenty of energy work tags on plenty of blogs out there. The very basics of energy work is to learn how
to ground, cleanse, and to sense it. I learned to ground from an old book for Wicca years  ago. LOL

What is Energy Work?

To put it simply, energy work is working with unseen forces that’s generally labeled as energy. The
concept of energy can take on many forms in both the physical and intangible. An object at rest can
store up kinetic energy while the sun can emit solar energy. You have two sides to energy and that’s the
scientific and then there’s energy work in witchcraft. Most practices utilizes some form of energy work
guided by intention by the worker.

o Psychology of Energy

Centering
Centering yourself is the act of calming your mind and your emotions. It’s a kind of meditative state
where you begin to feel more within and around you. The best way to learn to center is to learn to
meditate. Meditation is the basic of most practices. You can reach a meditative state while walking,
exercising, in the shower, reading, etc. You tend to focus your mind to the point where the rest of the
world fades into the background. Active meditation aids you in keeping your body focused on a task that
tends to be repetitive for your mind to become still. There are plenty of guided meditations you can try
and search for on YouTube.

o Meditations Based On the Major Arcana (horaeetumbra)

o How to Meditate (spiritvexer)

o Centering (Energy Work Series Part 2) (snwitch)

Grounding
The basic idea was to sit down with your legs crossed and begin to meditate. You imagine yourself as a
tree and set down roots where the base of your spine would be and the trunk being your spine, the
sprouts above your head. The intention was to connect with the earth and then push out all your ‘bad’
energies into the earth and take within its energies to hold within yourself. Then release it and slowly
come out of the meditative state by withdrawing your roots. I used this grounding method while starting
out and it was a very common one to use. It didn’t work as well for me as my cosmic grounding method
that I adjusted for the solar grounding within my post.

Typically, you should feel rejuvenated and relaxed when you ground. There’s plenty of guided
meditation methods you can try. I even covered a few fire and solar grounding techniques within the
post you commented on if you’d like to try those. Here’s plenty of links I have on hand with various
grounding methods:

o Grounding (Energy Work Series Part 1) (snwitch)

Sensing Energy
I learned to ground before I learned how to sense energy. Sensing energy involves a lot of patience,
practice, and being patient with yourself. You don’t instantly become amazing at energy work. It takes
you taking the time to repeatedly practice and push yourself. A good exercise to begin with is to start
with your hands. Find a quiet place for yourself so you won’t be disturbed. Hold your hands, palms
facing each other together. Now close your eyes and take deep breaths. (You don’t have to close your
eyes yet I recommend it for the first time because removing the visual sense heightens your other
senses.) Focus on the feel between your hands and gather your energy there. They should feel warm
already just from having your hands together even before going into this with the intention of gathering
energy from your body heat.

Next, slowly pull them apart and back together, not quite touching to focus on the feel against your
palms. You should feel a slight push or pull. You can jiggle your hands a little side to side to get a feel for
that sensation. The next step is to create a greater distance between your hands to work on sensing that
energy between them. It can get weaker the further apart they are yet you’ll get better at it the more
you play around with this. I used to play with this as a kid in school to make energy balls in my hands.

The next step up from working with your own energy is to work with plants. You hold your hands on
either side of the plant with your palms pointing inward to each other. You concentrate on feeling for
the plant’s energy, that slight push pulls against your hands. It’s important to take notes and keep track
of how things feel for you because energy work will become subjective to you on your techniques over
time. This method to feel a plant’s energy can be applied to rocks, objects, spirits, etc. Go nuts. I moved
onto candles after plants when I started. You can figure out what energy you can feel and not feel.

o Energy Work Basics (maddiviner)

o Energy Balls and Programming Energy (Energy Work Series Part 4) (snwitch)

o Using Tarot to Sense Energy (hecaatia — deactivated)

Shielding
Shielding is the act of using your energy or an outside source to create a protective shield around you.
You can apply this as a personal shield around your body, an object, yourself, etc. This can range from
protective wards to stopping others from intruding into your space. You can get creative as you’d like
yet you’d have to tie the protective measure to an energy source to draw its power from. The most
common forms of energy source to work with while beginning are the four basic elements (earth, air,
fire, water), the moon, and the sun. You generally want to avoid using yourself as a source well as you
have a finite amount of energy to provide and can tap yourself out by overworking yourself. There are
physical objects you can use as protective measures or working with spirits yet I’m going to stick with
the energy work focused for the purposes of this post.

Charging
The act of charging is using energy to fill up an object. It’s most commonly used with crystals. You often
hear of people leaving various crystals or objects out in the sun or moon for awhile. This usually is to be
filled with solar or lunar energies while at the same time become cleansed. You could charge water,
candles, etc.

o Charging 101: The Quick Basics (theoryofmagick)

o Charging An Object (witchcraftings)

Programming
Programming is a continuation of charging and that is to give the object a purpose set through intention,
sigils, spells, etc. The object itself has its own energy yet you can program it to act a certain way by
specifying what for while charging the object. You can charge an object with your own energy, solar,
lunar, fire, water, earth, air, whatever other energy sources you find or can think of. Setting the
intention of the charging would create it’s programming which can be further enforced over using this
object for its intended purpose. Repeatedly using it as such will cement in this programming.

Energy Flow Water Exercise

Today, while running a bath, I had an idea for a water-based energy exercise; because it is so simple and
mundane, this practice would be perfect for secret or beginner witches! So let’s get started:

____________________________________

1.⌇ Begin running your bath. As the water rises and becomes a few inches deep, take your hand in a
slight cupped shape and begin swirling long ovals in the water following the base of the tub; do this at a
medium speed and after only a few seconds, you’ll find that a wave begins to peak at each end of the
tub as it flows from one end to the other! It should start to look somewhat like this as it flows back and
forth, peaking at each end of the tub like a wave crashing on a cliff:

 ╲_____╱ ⤴

(This may seem complicated, but you’ll understand what I mean when you try)

2. ⌇ Swirling your hand in this oval motion at a constant rate should keep the wave going ~ you’ll notice
that the wave will have a certain speed, so try to go with that speed to avoid water splashing out / the
wave disappearing.

3.⌇Allow yourself to get lost in the motion, or fall into almost a meditative-like calm state. Notice how
the water moves ~ you did that! Your own personal energy - the energy from your movement - caused
that buildup. Feel the transfer of energy in the ‘waves’ that you created as they go back and forth. You
may feel your hand being pulled by the direction of the waves; notice how much energy you were able
to build up with just a softer, constant swirling.

4. ⌇Once the tub is almost full, allow the waves to disappear and enjoy your bath! The beauty of this
exercise is it’s simplicity, and the lesson of “energy buildup” that comes with it ~

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions/comments ☽♡☾

Thank you for reading!

______

Energy work: Moving energy through your body

Once you are able to project energy externally, it is a good idea to begin working on moving energy
through your body so that you can have better control over where the energy is within. this will allow
you to project it more effectively, and to have a stronger connection, and sense of what is going on
inside of you.

In order to do this all you would have to do is find a comfortable space where you will be able to focus
on this exercise, and then go through the process of focusing your mind, and enter a meditative state.
From here make an energy ball within your hands, and it would be a good idea to work at this energy
ball until it is a nice strong dense construct of your energy. This will allow you to keep your mental focus
upon it, and allow you to be able to feel it as it flows through you.

Once your energy ball has been realized visualize it flowing into one of your hands, then moving up your
arms, and then into your heart space. While you are visualizing this take note of the feeling of the
energy ball moving throughout your body, and memorize this feeling, and will that it takes to move that
energy through your body. Once this energy ball gets to your heart space begin visualizing it moving to
different parts of your body, so that you will be able to practice moving at around.

I would keep up with this for a couple minutes, so that you can really strengthen your control over these
parts of yourself. Allow it to flow to every part of your being, while focusing upon it, and continue to
make notes of how the energy feels as it moves from one place to the other. Remember to also take
time to focus on moving it from your heart space to your feet, and back again. It will most likely be
harder for you to move it between your feet and your Center because that is not done as much.

Once you are done with this exercise simply allow the energy that you were focusing on to diffuse back
into your energy system. Then exit your meditative state slowly, and then go on with the rest of your
day.

______
Energy work: Energetics striking
Energy can be used to improve your combat effectiveness by allowing you to also hurt people on a
spiritual level. This can be done by releasing your energy in a specific way, so that when you go through
the process of making contact with your opponent not only will they take the brunt of your physical hit,
but you will also shoot energy through their body disrupting their energy system. You would also be able
to go through the process of targeting specific places on their body, so that you would be able to affect
the energy centers that are found there creating energy blockages, unbalance energy centers, and
creating spiritual chaos within your opponent’s even after the battle is over.

To go through the process of striking in this way you have to be able to control your energy within
yourself, and externally, and in multiple places at the same time. It also takes a very good bit of focus in
order to transfer your energy in such a specific way, and will take even more focus during a fight. This
energetic striking process can be done when hitting an opponent with any part of your body, but to
explain the process I’m going to be referring to punching. You are also able to go through this process
with weapons by pushing your energy into those weapons, then striking with them in a way similar to
this.

In order to do this first you are going to want to gather energy up into your  fist,  and your elbow. You
are going to want to make this as dense as possible in the shortest amount of time. Once you’re happy
with how much energy you have gathered, and how dense that energy is you will be able to begin the
striking process by simply punching as you would normally. When your elbow becomes extended and
your fist goes to make contact, push the energy from your elbow to your fist, so that the energy in the
elbow makes it to your fist when the strike makes contact with your opponent. This process will allow
the energy in your elbow to push the energy in your fist allowing it to shootout through whatever it
makes contact with injecting that energy into the Energy System of whatever is on the business end of
this attack.

You will also want to visualize this energy pushing straight through your opponent, so that the energy
will not stop on the surface and will work its way into them.  you also want to visualize how the energy is
affecting their energy system, and both of these visualizations should be done at the point, and moment
of contact. This can be a lot to do, so that is why practice, and focus are very important for this practice
to be effective. During this process you are also able to focus on specific emotions, or energies that you
would like to use within the strikes to increase their spiritual crippling power and you will be able to
program these into the energy beforehand.

Purifying and Channeling A New Deck

This method is for a 78 card Tarot Deck.

When you recieve a new deck, it’s important to remember to purify and cleanse it before using it for
readings. This allows the deck’s natural energy to amplify, it allows you to be able to use the energy to
connect with the deck and to understand your readings. Essentially, it is the first step in creating and
strengthening your relationship with your deck .

Purify
By Light (Fire)
 Sort your deck by suit, and place each suit to its corresponding coordinate. (Wands-Fire/South,
Pentacles-Earth/North, Swords-Air/East, Cups-Water/West, Major Arcana-Spirit/Center)

 Place a candle for each suit around each pile of cards. For the major arcana, use a jar candle and
place that on top of the pile.

 Light the candles starting in the center, then North, and continue clockwise.

 Visualize the energy from the deck forming a pyramid, the point should be above the center
candle. The pyramid shape purifies the cards, with the aid of the candles pushing negative
energy out, while keeping the deck’s energy within and sealed to itself. This allows you to
remove any negative energies from past owners, shipping or packaging errors (when i recieved
my new deck,  two of the cards were damaged due to packaging errors) etc., yet leaving the
decks energy connection to the cosmos untouched.

By Water
 Sort your deck by suit and place each suit to it’s corresponding coordinate.

 Anoint a candle with moon water, and light it.

 Sprinkle moon water around each pile of cards, careful not to drip on the cards themselves.

“By this sacred water, you have been freed. Unbound and reactivated, only truth you shall see.”

By Smoke (Air)
 Sort your deck by suit and place each suit to it’s corresponding coordinate.

 Use incense, an herb bundle, or aromatic wood incenses as your source of smoke.

 Light your choice of incense, and pass over all the piles of cards counterclockwise.

“By these sacred herbs, you have been freed. Unbound and reactivated, only truth you shall see.”

 Put the incense in a cauldron or holder, and pick up a pile of cards, place it a safe distance away
from the smoke, as not to stain the deck, and watch the smoke wrap around it. Visualize a
growing bubble of energy as the smoke surrounds the cards. Repeat this step until all 5 piles
have been purified.
By Earth
 Sort your deck by suit and place each suit to it’s corresponding coordinate.

 Place a crystal on each pile.

“Open up to these healing Earthly vessels. For as they cleanse you, you cleanse them and all
transgression returns to The Source.”

 Let the crystals sit overnight on each pile.

Channeling
To tune your energies with your deck’s, you will need a quiet environment, and at least 45-60 minutes
to dedicate your focus. Take each suit and lay them out in their cardinal direction, in a circle around you.
Starting with the Major Arcana, look at the imagery, coloring, and wording on each card in it’s natural
form and reversed. Take in the messages they send you, meditate on them for a moment and proceed
to the North pile. Continue this with each pile, moving around your circle clockwise. Once finished,
shuffle your deck and pull one card. This card represents the receptive energy of the deck. Based on the
card you pull, use the information to evolve your relationship with your deck.

Meditation
Part 1:
This is used often in spiritual practices to clear your head, help you understand thoughts, and to be
focused. When you’re starting out in meditation, you need to understand how exactly to do it.

What meditation is:

 Meditation dates back thousands of years, and was practiced as Yoga.

 It developed in Buddhist India and Taoist China.

 Indian sages used it as a path to self-salvation.

 Meditation halls first opened in Japan and developed in the 8th Century.

 Western forms of Yoga and meditation began in the 1960s.

What meditation isn’t:

 Remember the Hollywood floating up with your legs crossed chanting ‘ohmmmm’?  That doesn’t
work.

 Meditation isn’t a hard journey you have to practice for years. You can get benefits from it from
the start.

 It isn’t a solution to every problem either. Go get the professional help you need.
 Nor is it just for relaxation. You can use it for insight and concentration, or thinking about
problems.

 It’s not just for spiritual people. You can when stressed, or use it once or twice ever. Or maybe
you just want to try it out a bit.

What do I do?
It’s not that hard, really! Here are the basic things you should be looking out for.

 Your location. Going somewhere quiet and avoiding distractions.

 Your position. There’s no need to sit up cross-legged, you could lie down in bed or even walk
around.

 Your breathing. If your mind begins to wander, always focus on steady, full breaths in and out.

 Your thoughts. Don’t be thinking about what’s for dinner, you have to be able to clear your head
of these.

How to stop thinking about things.

Your mind will often think about silly things, especially when you don’t want it to. You need your head to
be a blank slate.

One thing to try is visualisation. You are a mountain, see yourself as one. All your thoughts are clouds
floating by, and they are irrelevant. Push them away.

You have to figure out what’s irrelevant though. The goal when contemplating is for your mind to
wander so you can figure things out. But, thinking about that girl you like or the homework you didn’t
hand in two years ago probably won’t help.

If anything, you’ll get into the habit of whatever suits you during meditation. All it takes is a few tries to
figure your own system out. Go try it!

Meditation part 2: grounding

Grounding is a technique which is incredibly important in meditation. It stops you from draining all of
your energy and feeling lethargic or dizzy after you’ve meditated. It essentially ‘grounds you’ to reality.

There are all sorts of ways to ground yourself. Some people suggest taking a shower or eating some
toast so everything feels more real. However, I like to go into a little more depth when I ground myself
by using visualisation (a topic covered in previous lessons) which I will detail below.

I like to visualise my energy as coming through a tap. When you’re meditating or doing a spell or
divining, that energy is everywhere making a mess and letting you drift off from reality. So after doing
whatever you’re doing, you’ll have to visualise turning that tap off to make sure that you’re not tiring
yourself out from the amount of things you’re doing.

Alternate methods include picturing your third eye opening and closing during and then after a
divination reading or meditation. Or another I like to use is seeing yourself falling to sleep in your inner
astral plane and then waking up in the real world. But we’ll go into more detail on the astral planes in
the next lesson.

Be sure to make a habit of switching off your energy after you practice meditating. It doesn’t hurt to eat
something and ground yourself that way too though. Have fun and stay safe!

Meditation part 3: the inner plane

part 1  and  part 2

When you’re not in our current concious reality, chances are you’re dreaming or moving around in your
subconcious mind. In fact, the average person dreams for one to two hours a night, although 60% of
people don’t remember their dreams at all.

But what kind of adventures can you go on in your sleeping mind? There are such things as lucid
dreaming, as well as all kinds of astral planes you can travel to with practice that can potentially be
dangerous. But let’s start simple our own inner plane.

The inner plane may be the first place you go to when you meditate or dream. If you’ve ever seen BBC
Sherlock, it’s not all that different to a ‘mind palace.’  In this plane, you have control over things as you
would in a dream, and can store all kinds of memories which you will miraculously remember. Some
people even construct buildings that they can use when communicating with spirits. The best way to
reach your inner plane would be to reach a deep state of meditation and begin developing an area of
your mind to look how you want. For instance, my inner realm can be reached immediately through
practice, and one thing I have there is a tree resembling that of the tree of life or Bodhi tree which I use
in meditation practices. I actually reached it and understood it properly through a risky game called
‘triangle’ we had tried at Halloween, which I wouldn’t advise. You should try and develop yours, and
take time to visit it, through meditation.

These practices are a build up in order to help you grasp the more difficult and dangerous astral travel
and lucid dreaming. Bear in mind that astral travel involves moving through astral planes that aren’t
your own, and it takes a lot of practice and safety. So take time, and be careful!

Visualization Exercise: Memory Sprints (long version)

Spiritvexer

[read the tl;dr version here]

“Memory sprints” is the term I use to describe this exercise which involves intense focus for short
periods of time. It is used for increasing detail and focus in the astral and during spirit communication.
This exercise involves no actual magic and therefore does not require protection.

1. Identify some objects around you to practice on.

To begin with choose very simple objects like an apple, cigarette, or empty jar. Later on choose more
and more complex objects such as bicycles, computers, an unlocked cellphone, animals, and humans.

2. Try to clearly remember one of the objects. Spend as much time as you like filling in your memory
with details. Sketching an object in detail is a great way to do this.

Try to remember all aspects of the object, such as detail, texture, size, and shape. Sketching is a useful
tool because then you can literally just compare your version to reality.

For a challenge later on, begin limiting this remembering time. First start timing how long this usually
takes, then taking 5 or 10 seconds off that time.

If you choose not to sketch, try remembering all details of the object including if applicable taste, scent,
what it feels like to touch, etc.

3. When you are ready, look at the real object and fill in all the gaps in your memory. Focus intensely on
the object and memorize every detail.

At this stage, to make your exercise the most efficient learning exercise possible, analyze what went
down. What parts of objects do you usually forget? Detail? Form? Do you struggle more with mechanical
objects or organic objects? Paying attention to your own memories will help you learn what areas to
focus in.

A very common inclusion in this exercise is to limit the viewing portion to a set amount of time, such as
30, 15, or 10 seconds. I have much more fun spending 1-3 minutes focusing on an object and studying it,
so do not feel the need to limit yourself to short periods of time. However if you are looking for
something more advanced you might like it!

4. Set the object aside and once again try to clearly remember/sketch it. See how much more accurately
your drawing/memory has improved.

This is the main portion of the exercise, and the one where you can gauge your improvement. It doesn’t
matter how clearly you remember an object the first time you drew it – what matters is how much you
improved after a possibly limited viewing of an object.

Try this exercise with one or two objects around you, whenever you are bored. You can do this exercise
any time you like! If you do not have a sketchpad ready, just try to use pure visualization and focus in
detail.

our fingers. If you cannot identify it, hold your hand above or to the side of the plant with your palm tow
ards it.

Close your eyes and imagine your palm glowing. Focus on the sensation of your [Link] may tingle or gro
w warm or cool. That means you’re focusing on the energy your palm is creating naturally.

Visualize the plant glowing

Visualize the glow of energy collected in your palm gently stretching out to touch glowing energy of the
plant. As the two energies meet, ask yourself what you sense. Do you feel a specific emotion? Do ideas d
rift into your head? Thoughts or vague hunches? Pay attention. This is a method for collecting observatio
ns about the plant by sensing its energy with your own energy.

When you feel you have observed enough, send the plant a feeling of gratitude for its cooperation, then
visualize your energy disengaging from that of that the plant and drawing back into your palm.

Open your eyes and shake your hands firmly, as if you’re shaking water off your hand. This will help you
get rid of any excess energy hanging on.

Write down your observations in your green witch journal.

Everyone interact differently with the energy of a plant. If lavender energizes you, then that is one of lav
ender’s energy benefit in your practice, even though most books will tell you that lavender generally pro
jects feelings of peace and tranquility. Acquiring first-hand knowledge is important for a green witch, as i
t shapes and refines your practice, personalizing it in a way that makes it truly unique.

Guided imagery exercise to connect to the elements
 greengiver

Shake your limbs to relax yourself. Settle down with your spine straight and take our time taking three b
reaths with your surroundings, then allow your mind to linger on the words: earth, air, fire, water.

*Earth. You have imagined the earth beneath your feet. Now think of the many manifestations of earth
on the planet. Feel your feet on the earth of your choice… marshland, desert, forest, mountains, hills an
d valleys, sandstone, granite, chalk. Feel, with the pressure of your feet against the earth, the pull of gra
vity, keeping you anchored. Feel the current of energy from the earth throbbing upwards. You are a crea
ture of earth. Relax into this feeling, and then open your awareness out and find yourself in a high place

*Air. Feel the air as a tangible presence as you gaze out to the vast horizon, laid out below the huge arch
ing dome of the azure sky. In this high place, your awareness expands: the great winds of the earth, swirl
ing round, think and pure, sharpen your wits and blow the cobwebs away. You breathe in air that sparkl
es like wine and are intoxicated, feeling yourself light and buoyant, You extend your arms above you as i
f you could float on the thermals that support the birds in their flight, feeling at one with the wind that c
arries messages all over the world. Stand firm, as your awareness is pulled high into the sky…

*Fire. High in the vast expanse of blue, feel the blaze of the sun, striking down, warming the thin grass a
nd bursting the buds of the alpine flowers, drying up the atmosphere. With your eyes shut, stretch in an
attitude of ecstasy, fed by the warmth that pours down in golden rays. The water is pulled up into the up
per atmosphere and you open your eyes to see a large cloud on the horizon. Watch it travelling with spe
ed, and whilst it is in the middle distance in that huge vista, you see it disgorging its rain as a hazy mist o
ver the landscape…

*Water. In your imagination, see the rain from that cloud sinking into the soil, percolating through the gr
ound to a deep subterranean spring that makes its gradual way to the surface. There is a tiny trickle of cr
ystal water emerging from the ground, and you see it in your mind’s eye gaining strength as it tumbles d
ownhill, changing eventually from stream to river, and making its way to join the massive depth of the s
ea.

Allow the scene to fade as you come back to everyday reality. Stretch, yawn, and wriggle to feel fully bac
k in the present here and now.
