JAY (V.O.):
Hi, and welcome to my story. It took
many ups and downs to get here. First,
let’s start from the beginning. I used
to run around and play like any child
and for a little while, life was…
okay. I was pretty lonely though, I
only had one friend named Jamie.

JAY (V.O.):
We dated for a little bit just to find
out he is gay, but that’s not the
point. I used art and music as a
coping mechanism as a child to hide
the fact that I was sad.

JAY (V.O.):
Whether people believe it or not
that’s probably when my depression
first showed up. I used to do a lot of
theatre in and out of school.

JAY (V.O.):
I instantly loved it since I was 8
years old

life, for the most part, my school

life wasn’t that great.

JAY (V.O.):
I was bullied for most of my life,
some of it was to the point where I
would starve myself for days at a time
and well... make myself throw up.

Jay walks down the hallways of a school.

-- noises like voices calling Jay names and a slam against a

locker

JAY (V.O.):
I couldn’t even walk in the halls
without being afraid of something
happening to me, like being slammed
against the lockers or being name-
called. Then high school hit, the
worst day of my life, August 30th,
2018. I decided to trust the wrong
person with something big and it ended
up horrible. Word spreads around, and
it spreads quickly. Guys were looking
at me like I was a new piece of meat,
I felt disgusted with myself.

-- a cafeteria table is shown on the screen

JAY (V.O.):
A guy walked to my lunch table, I
thought he looked genuinely nice so I
let him sit, he started feeling up my
leg, and when I went to escape it.

-- noises (screams for help)

JAY (V.O.):
I lost the fight.

him. I feel safest when I’m in his
arms, and I never felt the way he
makes me feel before.

JAY (V.O.):
I got accepted to my dream school soon
after that, Beacon Charter School for
the Arts and was crying tears of joy
the moment I found out. The amount of
support and acceptance here is
phenomenal. I started going there on
November 5th, 2018, so thankful for
everything they have taught me, I
definitely have come out of my shell
and am more comfortable and confident
within myself

I found my love for fashion again, so
I decided to start making some more
pieces, like my prom dress

I applied to my 3 dream colleges as
soon as the application opened. RISD,
MassArt, and Fashion Institute of
Technology. I am super excited to get
the results

JAY (V.O.):
And that's my story, I hope it was
enjoyed, it was really hard to open up
about some parts
