The film starts in a dark room only lit by a lamp on a desk

where someone sits there working on a computer. There’s a

transition between different shots of the room. The narrator
will start speaking when a mid-shot of the person is
revealed.

INT. DARK ROOM - NIGHT

A dark room, lit only by a lamp on a desk. DENNIS, a senior

year high school student, sits working on a computer.

NARRATOR (V.O.)
My name is Dennis Vazquez, and I
absolutely A B H O R math. There’s
more than that sadly. I’m in my senior
year of high school and I will be
turning 18 in a few months.

The following dialogue will be paired with different

shots/angles.

NARRATOR (V.O.)
People keep telling me that right now
is the best time of my life. That it’s
all sunshine, going out with friends,
signing up for college/work, falling
in love, and all that other stuff
people think it’s like. Well, it’s
nothing like that and I’m not just
saying this because we are in a
pandemic right now or that my
generation is f***ed in some ways.
There are many different characters in
the upper grades in high school. If I
had to describe myself, I’m more of
the type of person who’s just trying
to go through it all.

The person slams their desk and is about to curse loudly only
to cut off to the next shot. He’s now sitting on a bench at a
park looking down.

EXT. PARK - MIDDAY/NOON

NARRATOR (V.O.)
But it’s easier said than done because
I genuinely have no idea what I want
to do. School keeps talking about
colleges and other things we might
want to do in the future and that’s
fine. I still have time to think about

it. My main obstacle is my fear of

what happens after I’m done with
graduation. More specifically, what I
will lose when everything is said and
done. The friends, the things I enjoy,
and more. I’m afraid that I will lose
them and stop liking the things I
enjoy now. The days went by slower,
everything just felt the same as it
is. The streets I’ve walked, the
things I do, everything. The people I
call friends are the same as ever,
drifting away, or I just don’t know
what to talk to them about. Sometimes
the things the people I know talk
about just don’t feel/sound
interesting. Eventually, I began to
not only question my own life but
everything else.

An apple is on a table. It’s revealed that the apple is being

eaten by the high school student.

INT. HOME - NOON

NARRATOR (V.O.)
For example, I stared at an apple and
asked myself what really is an apple?
A fruit that signifies intelligence? A
fruit that is used in a rhyme to
encourage children to eat food? A
fruit that holds importance in
religion? It’s all those things and
no. I don’t understand these thoughts
because I can come up with
satisfactory and/or correct answers
and still keep going. FOR GOD’S SAKE
IT. IS. A. F***ING. FRUIT!

The student is seen sitting down on a bench in a park.

EXT. PARK - DAWN/MORNING

NARRATOR (V.O.)
I don’t understand it one bit. Why on
God’s earth does this need to be hard
or am I making this hard? Whatever,
this is just bulls***. I’m on a
freakin’ sphere of dirt and water with
a small rock orbiting that controls
the tides while the sphere I’m on is

orbiting a giant ball of gas we call

the sun. This ball of gas is one of
many other balls of gas within our
galaxy with their own spheres orbiting
around them that can contain life and
there are even more galaxies out there
in our ever so expanding universe. Why
does this matter? Wait a
minute…..woah.

Skips to the student sitting down in a library looking at

books and computers.

INT. LIBRARY - MIDDAY

NARRATOR (V.O.)
All these questions kept coming into
my mind. What is good and evil? What
does it mean to suffer? How does one
be happy and enjoy life? These
questions were easier for me to answer
for myself when I delved into
philosophy. Philosophy in layman's
terms is the study of seeking
fundamental truths of themselves, the
world they live in, life itself, and
more. All these words with different
meanings behind them lead to different
viewpoints of everything from
Stoicism, Existentialism, Nihilism,
and others.

Cuts to the student sitting on their porch during the early

hours of the morning.

EXT. PORCH OF HOUSE - DAWN

NARRATOR (V.O.)
I’ll admit that I’ve found some peace
through it all. I’ve learned that I
must cast aside my procrastination,
borderline gluttonous habits, and gain
confidence while casting out self-
deprecation if life for me is to get
better. Life is only lived once and
every moment we exist is only there
once before lost in eternity. The only
real way we can capture those moments
is through videos and pictures. Hmm
interesting, perhaps maybe I can. No
longer am I uncertain of what I want

to do with my life. In the end, I’ve

learned that apples are just fruit and
that I just want to be happy.
