INTRODUCTION
The history of Starbucks starts in Seattle in 1971. Three friends, Jerry
Baldwin, Zev Siegl, and Gordon Bowker, who all had a passion for fresh
coffee, opened a small shop and began selling fresh-roasted, gourmet
coffee beans and brewing and roasting accessories.
From humble beginnings starbucks has evolved into the
largest coffeehouse company in the world, with over 16,858 stores in 50
countries, including over 11,000 in the United States, over 1000 in
Canada, and over 700 in the UK.
From Starbucks' founding in later forms in Seattle as a local coffee
bean roaster and retailer, the company has expanded rapidly. In the
1990s, Starbucks was opening a new store every workday, a pace that
continued into the 2000s. The first store outside the United States or
Canada opened in the mid-'90s, and overseas stores now constitute
almost one third of Starbucks' stores.
Starbucks set up its first outlet in the uae in the year 2000 and it has
quickly established itself as the leading coffee brewery in the nation,
even though they face stiff competition from other brands such as
caribou,Gloria jeans coffee and dunkin doughnuts.
