1. Given the traditional/conventional concept of literacy, how literate are you?

 I believe I am more than literate in terms of standard and conventional definitions of literacy.
Various things from the past and present have supplied me with information and abilities that I
may apply in my daily life. I was able to learn about our country's history, the things that
surround us, and how to survive in this world. Knowledge, skills, and values have lead me to
where I am now, and I believe it is because I am a person, a literate human, who is guided by
Almighty Father.

2. How deep is your level of comprehension?

 Reading comprehension is the ability to process and comprehend information that we have
read. There are three stages of knowledge in this process: literal meaning, inferential meaning,
and evaluative meaning. Literal meaning refers to what the text says happened in the story.

3. As a pre-service teacher, what kind of written materials should you be able to read and understand?
Are you reading these written materials? How well can you understand them?

 I use a variety of reading and writing materials as a pre-service teacher, including Google
Grammarly, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Word. I utilize an online website since it is quick,
simple, and comfortable to use. I used social media to further my education and earn money.
It's simple to use; with just one click, you'll be presented with several possibilities and a large
number of options for the answer. On the other hand, I do not allow youngsters to use social
media; it is preferable to use traditional learning methods. In the meantime, using social media
to study and succeed throughout the Pandemic is recommended.
4. Which of the new literacies are you knowledgeable in? Which of the new literacies do you lack
knowledge in?

 Reading and writing are both important skills to have because reading and writing let you
understand more about everything, and writing helps you create your own beautiful font. "New
literacies" that emerge from new technologies include text messaging, blogging, social
networking, podcasting, and videomaking. These digital technologies change and expand our
communication capabilities, combining text, sound, and visual in many cases.

5. Although reading education in the Philippines aims to develop Functional/Practical literacy in learners,
what level of literacy is being developed when classroom practices focus more on memorization rather
than on understanding and application?

 According to Polinar, the move from Filipino and English instruction to teaching in students'
native language has made a substantial effect for young learners.

"[Children] find it simpler to discuss things because they are speaking in their mother tongue, which
is our own dialect," she explains. "Because they can express themselves freely and boldly and relate
effectively to the lessons, the students are responsive and participate in class discussions."

6. Describe the changes in the 21st century that have led to the rise of new literacies.

 Text messaging, blogging, social networking, podcasting, and videomaking are examples of "new
literacies" that have emerged as a result of new technologies. These digital technologies change
and expand our communication abilities, frequently combining text, sound, and imagery.

FINAL TASK

A. Make an activity that could help students to develop functional literacy. (50 points)

 Students have been assigned to their perspective groups, and they must create a poster about
"How the World Changes from Healthy to Dying."
B. Make a lesson plan that incorporates some of the new literacies. (100 points)
