I. - DIRECT CONNECTION VIA SERIAL COMMUNICATION CABLE – WINDOWS XP
A. - Setting up the Communication Cable
Driver - Windows XP
1. Choose
Start→ (Settings) →Control
Panel→ Phone and Modem
Options.
Note: Cable RS232 crossover is connected in
COM5, located in front of RMC.

2. Start the Phone and Modem Options.

3. Select the Modems tab and
Click the Add... button.
4. Choose ...select it from a list.
Click Next.
5. For a direct connection choose the Communication cable between two
computers as device.
Click Next.

6. Select your port, usually COM1 for a direct connection.
Click Next.
7. After the successful installation of the connection
Click Finish.

B. Setting up the Direct Connection -
Windows
1. Choose
Start Control Panel Network and Dial-
up Connections
Create a new connection.
2. The Network Connection Wizard starts.
Click Next.
3. In the Network Connection Type window, select Set up an advanced
connection.
Click Next.

4. In the Advanced Connection Options, choose Connect directly to another
computer.
Click Next.
5. In the next window choose Guest.
Click Next.
6. Enter a name for the new connection.
Click Next.

7. The next window is Select a Device.
This window will provide a dropdown list of
known communication ports (devices) to
choose from. Select the device that has
been installed in chapter 1 Setting up the
Communication Cable Driver - Windows
XP.
Click Next.
8. The next window is Connection Availability.
Choose Anyone's use.
Click Next.
9. In the window completing the New
Connection Wizard,
Choose whether to Add a shortcut
... to the desktop or not.

Click Finish.
10. The next window is the Connect window.
Click Properties.
11. Under the General tab ensure the correct device is
selected and
Tag the Show icon… box to get the IP address
display at the end of the connection procedure.
Click Configure.
12. In the Modem Configuration window,
choose the Maximum speed depending on
the repeater:

No other box should be checked.
Click OK.
13. Select the Options tab and make sure that all
dialing options except Include Windows logon
domain are checked.
Set the redialing options as required and click OK.
14. In the Security tab click Typical and choose
Require secured password.
Click OK.
15. Select the Networking tab and click the Settings
button.
There are 3 PPP settings. Make sure they are all
OFF and
click OK.

16. In the Networking window, highlight the Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP) component and click the Properties
tab.
17. Check Obtain an IP address automatically and
Obtain DNS server address automatically.
Click Advanced.
18. In the General tab, uncheck all boxes.

19. In the DNS tab, make sure Append primary... and
Append parent... and Register this connection... are
checked.
20. In the WINS tab, make sure
Enable LMHOSTS lookup is checked.
Confirm twice to return to the main window.
21. Select the Advanced tab for Internet Connection
Firewall and Internet Connection Sharing settings.
Make sure that
Protect my computer and network... and
Allow other network users to connect... are
unchecked.
Click OK to get back to the Connect window.

22. The connection procedure is described in the following. If the connection is to be
made directly from the Connect window, step one of the following description can be
skipped.
C. Establishing the Direct Connection -
Windows XP
1. Choose Start→Control
Panel→Network
Connections→Connection name.
2. The next window is the Connect window.
Enter the user identification.
User name: altegr
Password: altegr
Check Save the user name and password...
For Me only.
Click Connect.
While the connection is established the Connecting window is
displayed.
When the connection is successful an icon indicating network activity between the
local and remote computer will appear in the system tray.

Click the icon and select the Details tab, to get the Server
IP address for software access. The displayed Server IP-
address has to be entered as part of the URL for access
to the repeater software.
Open an Internet explorer and Copy IP

II.- REMOTE CONNECTION VIA MODEM - WINDOWS XP
A. Setting up the Modem Driver -
Windows XP
1. Select StartSettingsControl
Panel.
Open the Phone and Modem
Options.
2. Select Modems tab and
Continue with Add….
3. Choose Don’t detect my
modem. I will select it from a
list.
Click Next.

4. For a modem connection, select the
according device depending on the
repeater and the modem used for dial
out.

5. Select your port for a modem
connection.

6. When the modem has been set up

1. Choose
StartControl PanelNetwork and Dial-up
Connections Create a new connection.
2. In the Welcome window
Click Next.
3. Select Connect to the network
at my workplace in the Network
Connection Type window.
Continue with Next.

4. In the Network Connection window,
choose Dial-up connection.
Click Next.
5. In the Select a Device window, select the according device depending on the
modem used for dial out.
Click Next.
6. Enter a name for the new connection.
Click Next.

7. In Phone number to Dial no phone
number has to be entered.
The MMR Connector will set the phone
number automatically.
Click Next.
8. In Connection Availability choose
Anyone's use.
Click Next.
9. In Completing the New Connection

C. Establishing the Modem Connection - Windows XP
1. Choose
Start→Control Panel →
Network Connections →
Connection name (i. e. in this

2. The next window is the
Connect window.
Enter the user identification.
User name: altegr

Check Save the user name and password... for Me only.
Under Dial enter phone number.
Please bear in mind that the default factory setting for User
Name and Password may be replaced by different ones.
Click Dial.
While the connection is established the
Connecting window is displayed.
When the connection is successful an icon indicating network activity between the
local and remote computer will appear in the system tray.
Click the icon and select the Details tab, to get the Server
IP address for software access.

III. LOCAL AREA NETWORK (LAN) SETUP

1. START CONNECT TO SHOW ALL CONNECTIONS
Mark Local Area Connection and Click Properties.
2. Mark Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and
Click Properties.
3. The properties of Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) are displayed.

These settings are necessary when the MMR System will be accessed via LAN.
The IP address and the value for the subnet
mask are factory set.
The IP address is [Link].

Close the window with OK.
Open an Internet explorer and copy IP address
