Rhythm and Beat A beat is best defined as the pace, tempo, or
timing required to play a certain piece of
music. Rhythm, on the other hand, maybe
thought of as how you live the rhythm. It is
the constant continuous sound heard or felt
throughout any rhythmical pattern.
Dancing and Rhythmic Activities Dancing is the movement of the body and the
expression of one's emotions via movement
in a rhythmic manner, whereas rhythmic
activities are a person's emotional and mental
reactions to a rhythm.
Rhythmic pattern and measure A measure is a single unit of time with a
defined number of beats performed at a
specific pace, whereas a rhythmic pattern is a
cluster of sounds or beats connected to the
underlying beats that follow the lyrics or
melody.
Intensity and Accent In a measure, the accent is the force or
emphasis given to any beat in a succession
of pulse beats. The quality of movement or
music is the center of intensity. A dynamic or
force, such as a heavy or light force, is
referred to it.
Phrasing and Tempo The term "phrasing" refers to a musical
phrase that consists of a series of measures
that evokes a sense of unity. A shift in
direction or movement may be implied at the
conclusion of a phrase. The rate of pace of a
movement, music, or accompaniment, on the
other hand, is referred to as tempo.
