Sustainable Practices for Built Environment

I was mainly connected with helping the students fill up the LEED Precertification form and in the
following assignment:

The students are divided in to groups of 5 to 6 persons. Each group will choose 1 topic out of the
following 8:
TOPICS:
1. What are the codal provisions of the Bureau of Energy efficiency for energy assessment of
buildings?
2. What are the provisions of the National Building Code for sustainability?
3. What is the UNFCC and what does it address? How is the UNFCC implemented through the
Conference of Parties (COP)? Explain the progress made and drawbacks in implementing the
UNFCC.
4. What are focus areas of the Indian Government related to sustainable development? Explain
the provisions through the 12th Five Year Plan, National Environment Policies, Millenium
Development Goals and Sustainability Development Goals and India’s progress with regard
to the same?
5. Explain the role played by the Ministry of New and Renewable Sources of Energy and its
initiatives in promotion of alternate sources of energy and energy security.
6. What is the process of Environment clearance of buildings and what criteria area assessed for
environmental clearance of building projects?
7. What are the major international conventions and treaties that India is party to? Explain 5 of
each in detail.
8. What are the sustainable aspects of smart cities? Discuss in detail.
