The seminar entitled “Tech Talk for students” was conducted via zoom and was
also broadcast on Facebook last October 11, 2021, from 9 am to noon. The speaker
was Dr. Rosalyn P. Alburo - The director of, Biodiversity Environment and natural
resources research center, and a Professor III in CTU Argao. During the webinar,
the speaker shared first her background on why did she love to research. She said
that she was lucky enough to be exposed to research at the early stage because her
father was a professor and also a researcher at the Visayas State University. From
that, she has done a lot of research in her high school days and was able to win in
every competition in local, regional, and was represented in the national as well.
During the whole time of the webinar, it was really interesting and informative in a
way that it makes me feel attentive and amazed about research in the whole aspect.
One thing that I remember the most from the speaker was that “When we do
research, we innovate” and I agree with what she said because innovation comes
first with research, we find problems and we suggest innovative solutions.
“Research is everywhere, but we don’t how to start with it,” she said and from that,
research needs a lot of effort and perseverance when looking into the problem and
how to solve it in an innovative way and procedure to deliver out amazing results
that will significantly contribute to the community. In addition, there was a quote
that struck me the most and will serve as a lifetime learning and that was
“Research starts with a problem and ends with a lot of problems”. The research
will never stop along with the changes around concerning time. We, people, love
innovative things or something that is new to our eyes and that’s why we keep on
discovering things and that is how the research helps us in our everyday lives.
Without research, nothing will change but with research, anything will be
answered and there will be no more wonder anymore.
