Cylindrical Tank Water Spill RPM Calculations

The document presents a problem involving determining the maximum rpm of a cylindrical tank filled partially with water before spillage occurs and the rpm needed for the water depth at the center of the tank to be zero. Given the tank diameter is 60cm, height is 90cm, and it is 2/3 filled with water. The maximum rpm is calculated to be 94.5814 rpm and the rpm for a water depth of zero at the center is 133.7583 rpm.

Problem: An open cylindrical tank is two-thirds filled with water.

If the tank is 60cm in

diameter and 90cm high, determine: (Hint: 1 rpm = pi/30 rad/s) the maximum rpm
required so that no water will be spilled; and the rpm so that the depth of water at the
center of the tank is zero. Note: Do not include units in your answers. Do not round off
intermediate values and answer in four decimal places.

Given:
diameter=∅= 60 cm
since  ∅/2 = radius
radius=r=30cm

g= 9.81m/s²

Find:
ω = angular velocity
