Anthropological Foundation: Introduction
A Reflection Paper
Education cannot be constructed in the pillars of thought without the science of man. It is only
through science that we can truly enjoy and be most benefitted by the importance of why we do things
and why we ought to improve thereby. I can truly see and examine that the mind is indeed a powerful tool
which encompasses a grand variety of things through which we can see through a lens. With the science
of man now in place, we can discover that education is indeed a human topic, and such science as
discussed upon is what we call as Anthropology.
So what is Anthropology in the appropriate sense of things? I have reflected the definition of
Anthropology as one in which covers the study of humans as biological organisms and on the social side,
one in which is devoted to the behavior of the people and the products associated with that behavior.
(Wadsworth, 2011) Anthropology provides us with enough rapport to well distinguish man as against
others in their strata of society. Man is indeed a unique animal and the reason for such undertaking is that,
it walks erect, it uses hands for handling and it has a more complex brain fitting to process more complex
and hard to think about questions that challenge those who do not have that capacity. I am really
interested that Anthropology could be distinguished from two points namely the physical and the cultural.
I can fathom to see that the physical more on focuses and establishes man as the product of the
evolutionary process. On the other hand, the cultural aspect deals with man’s behavior and with the way
human beings deal and carry out the activities of daily living.
In summary we can well observe that the physical and the cultural do go both ways. It extends a
far greater reach and thus provides the greater sense of what is and what is not. Education at its core do
refers to the pursuit of knowledge of which Anthropology, the study of culture is well inclined to. Since
the inherent learning structures are an essential part of Anthropology, we can well see in the lens of
humanity that human development springs and stems from the study of this science. (Henze, 2020)
There are several educational implications of Anthropology to which I am well amazed. To start,
it does allow people to study how humans and other organisms react to certain environments. Second, it
gives humans insight on how things work, live and coexist. Through the study of Anthropology, humans
can now more determine how things were really made, live and react to the different scenarios in play,
and how these different texts change the perception of ideas to which we now inculcate. This study,
connecting it with its educational implication also helps the average man to study the changes that happen
upon nature or from ourselves and shows a great deal of how much advancement humans can still make.
By looking at Anthropology in this side, we can well assess that indeed, education is of great and utmost
importance in the evolution of mankind.
