NOTES
1. Shawl is worked in two identical halves. Sts are worked into the opposite
side of the foundation ch of first half to beg second half.
2. A border is worked all the way around the outer edge of Shawl.

Ch 50.
Row 1 (RS): Working in back bars of ch, sc in 2nd ch from hook, *sk next 2 ch,
Shell in next ch, sk next 2 ch, sc in next ch; rep from * across – you will have 8
Shells and 9 sc at the end of this row.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc in this row and in all following rows), turn, dc in
first sc, ch 2, sc in center dc of next Shell, *ch 2, dc in next sc, ch 2, sc in center
dc of next Shell; rep from * to last sc, ch 2, 2 dc in last sc – 8 sc, 11 dc, and 16
ch-2 sps.
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sk first dc, sc in next dc, *Shell in next sc, sc in next dc; rep
from * across; leave turning ch unworked – 8 Shells and 9 sc.
Rows 4-59: Rep Rows 2 and 3.
Fasten off.

From RS, draw up a loop of yarn in center of either long side (at edge of
foundation ch), ch 1, ****(sc, ch 3, sc) in same sp; working across long edge, sc
in side of sc at end of first row, *ch 5, sk next row, sl st in side of sc at end of next
row; rep from * to last 2 rows, ch 5, sk next row, (sl st, ch 3, sl st) in side of sc at
end of last row for corner; working across sts of last row, **ch 3, (sl st, ch 3, sl st)
in center dc of next Shell, ch 3, sl st in next sc; rep from ** 6 more times, ch 3, (sl
st, ch 3, sl st) in center dc of last Shell, ch 3, (sl st, ch 3, sl st) in last sc for
corner; working across side edge, ***ch 5, sk next row, sl st in side of sc at end of
