Data Gathering Procedure for Online Learning Study

Researchers distributed a validated questionnaire to students at ACLC College of Mandaue via social media to understand the effect of online learning on academic performance during the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey included dichotomous yes/no questions modified from related research and questions formed by the researchers. After students answered the questionnaire, the researchers collected, tallied, and summarized the data.

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

After the professor of the subject validated the instrument or the questionnaire checklist,
researchers conduct the research to the students of ACLC college of Mandaue through social
media. The reason why research conduct online because it's still pandemic. The survey being
implemented was done using suitable questions modified from the related research and
individual questions formed by the researchers. In the questionnaire, most of it are dichotomous
question which the respondents are able to respond with simple "yes" or "no". In this study the
goal is to know the effect of online learning to the academic performance during covid-19 of
ABM students of ACLC. After the respondents answer the questionnaire, the

researchers collected and tallied the data and summarized.

Common questions

Researchers might face challenges such as reduced response rates due to limited access to technology, difficulties in ensuring a representative sample, and the inability to clarify questions in person. These can be addressed by using diversified communication methods, ensuring questions are clear and straightforward, and offering support for accessibility issues .

The research was conducted online because it was still during the pandemic, which likely made in-person data collection challenging or unsafe. This approach might affect the sample size and response rate since not all potential respondents may have access to or be comfortable with online platforms .

Summarizing data is crucial for identifying patterns and drawing conclusions. Ensuring accuracy involves careful data entry, cross-verification, and employing statistical methods or software for analysis to avoid errors and biases in the interpretation of results .

Individual questions developed by the researchers can provide tailored insights specific to the study's context but might affect the reliability or comparability of findings if not aligned with established measures. Their inclusion requires careful consideration of potential biases or gaps in the research framework .

The primary goal of the research was to investigate the effect of online learning on the academic performance of ABM students during the COVID-19 pandemic .

Dichotomous questions streamline data analysis and are effective for confirmatory research but can limit the depth of understanding obtained. They may overlook nuances in opinions and fail to capture complex factors that influence academic performance in an online learning environment .

The researchers ensured the validity of the research instrument by having it validated by the professor of the subject before conducting the study. This is a critical step in confirming that the instrument is suitable to measure what it intends to measure .

Advantages of using social media include broader reach and ease of access for respondents, potentially leading to quicker data collection. Disadvantages may include respondent bias, privacy concerns, and inequities in access to technology among the potential population, which can skew results .

The pandemic context could impact validity as it introduces confounding variables like increased stress or differing home environments, which might influence online learning experiences independently of the educational methods themselves. These factors must be accounted for in data interpretation and conclusions .

Most of the questions in the survey were dichotomous, allowing respondents to answer with simple 'yes' or 'no' responses. Using this format can streamline the data analysis process as it simplifies responses but may also limit depth or nuance in the collected data .
