Hematology and Biochemistry Lab Report

This laboratory report contains the results of hematology, biochemistry and lipid profile tests for a 40-year old female patient. Several test results are outside of the normal reference ranges, including elevated fasting blood glucose, total cholesterol, and triglycerides. The hematology results show normal red blood cell count and hemoglobin levels but elevated neutrophil percentage and platelet count. The liver function tests are normal range.

Lipid Profile

Cholesterol Total 169.5 mg/dL Optimal: < 200

(Serum/CHOD-PAP with ATCS) Borderline: 200 - 239
High Risk: >= 240

Triglycerides 148.8 mg/dL Optimal: < 150

(Serum/GPO-PAP with ATCS) Borderline: 150 - 199
High: 200 - 499
Very High: >= 500

INTERPRETATION: The reference ranges are based on fasting condition. Triglyceride levels change drastically in response to food,
increasing as much as 5 to 10 times the fasting levels, just a few hours after eating. Fasting triglyceride levels show considerable
diurnal variation too. There is evidence recommending triglycerides estimation in non-fasting condition for evaluating the risk of
heart disease and screening for metabolic syndrome, as non-fasting sample is more representative of the ³usual´circulating level of
triglycerides during most part of the day.
HDL Cholesterol 45.7 mg/dL Optimal(Negative Risk Factor):
(Serum/Immunoinhibition) >= 60
Borderline: 50 - 59
High Risk: < 50

INTERPRETATION: [Link]-HDL Cholesterol is now proven to be a better cardiovascular risk marker than LDL Cholesterol.
[Link] is the sum of all potentially atherogenic proteins including LDL, IDL, VLDL and chylomicrons and it is the "new bad cholesterol"
and is a co-primary target for cholesterol lowering therapy.
Total Cholesterol/HDL Cholesterol 3.7 Optimal: < 3.3

CHOLECALCIFEROL) Insufficiency: 21.0 - 30.0
(Serum/Chemiluminescent Immunometric Assay Sufficiency: 31.0 - 100.0
(CLIA)) Toxicity: > 100.1

INTERPRETATION: Vitamin D(Calciferol) includes D3 (Cholecalciferol) and D2 (Ergocalciferol). Vitamin D3 is formed in the skin by
the action of UVB or is ingested. Vitamin D2 mainly comes from plant sources. Vitamin D3 and D2 are hydroxylated in the liver to 25
-hydroxyvitamin D (25-OHD)/Calcidiol. This is the major circulating form of vitamin D and is the target for assays measuring vitamin
D status.

ANTI SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Non-reactive,0.47 Index Non-reactive: < 1.0

ANTIBODY Reactive: >= 1.0
(Serum/Chemiluminescent Immunometric Assay
(CLIA))
INTERPRETATION: Comments:
Anti SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) Antibody is a test qualitative test for detection of antibodies (including IgG) to Severe Acute
Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
A reactive test result means that the person has been exposed to the virus. A reactive test does not mean the person has protective
immunity to Covid-19 infection.
A non-reactive test result can mean that the person has not been exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
A negative test result does not completely rule out the possibility of an infection with SARS-CoV-2.
Serum or plasma samples from the very early (pre-seroconversion) phase can yield negative findings. Therefore, this test cannot be
used to diagnose an acute infection.
The antibody test results should be interpreted in context of clinical suspicion.
Disclaimer: Antibody test is to identify the exposure status of an individual to SARS-CoV-2, it is not for diagnosis of acute infection.
