TT8501 Process Control in Spinning

PART- A (10 x 2 = 20 Marks)

1. State the significance of spinning consistency index in fiber selection.


2. Distinguish between open loop and closed loop autolevelling
3. State the causes of nep and hook formation in fibre-opening processes.
4. State the apparatus and method used for determination of nep increasing ability
and nep removal ability of cotton fibres.
5. Determine the trash % and lint% in the collected waste from the machine with the
following details. Trash in feed -2.3%, trash in delivery -1.1%, Waste removed by
the machine-1.5%.
6. Differentiate the terms degree of cleaning and cleaning efficiency.
7. Define HOK, OHS and SH.
8. What is ‘Snap Study’? State its significance in analysis of ring frame performance.
9. Classify yarn faults based on length and amplitude.
10. “CV% is more reliable than U% for analyzing the yarn irregularity” – Verify.

PART- B (5 x 13 = 65 Marks)

11. a) Enlist and discuss the consequences of poor fibre quality on spinning
performance.

their influence on mixing quality and cost.

12. a) Elaborate the significance of optimization of blow room machine and process
parameters for optimization of nep generation in blow room.

comber on nep removal efficiency.
13. a) Explain the factors influencing the licker-in and flat waste and discuss the
significance of modern developments in optimization of card waste.

b) Give a detailed note on factors influencing the yarn realization and ways to
improve the same.

14. a) Critically analyse the key factors affecting the production limits of spinning
machinery.

b) Discuss in detail the various methods for maximizing the production in


spinning machinery.

15. a) Discuss the various reasons and remedial measures for control of with-in
bobbin and between-bobbin count variation in yarn

OR

b) Discuss the process parameters and machine sequence to be used for


processing P/C blended yarns in spinning.

PART- C (1 x 15 = 15 Marks)

16. a) With neat diagram, explain the open loop autolevelling in draw frame and
the various parameters to be considered for testing the efficiency of the same.

b) With suitable illustrations, explain the analysis and interpretation of


Spectrogram and V-L curve.
